Bonus Tip: Where to Buy Cheap Flowers for Valentine’s Day
You’ll have the best luck finding cheap flowers for Valentine’s Day at either Trader Joe’s or Costco. Trader Joe’s sells roses by the dozen for $9.99 the week before the holiday. If you shop Costco, you’ll need to buy two dozen roses because they don’t sell them by the single dozen. Two dozen Costco roses are $18.99.

3. Stock up on baby supplies during sales at both Amazon and Walmart.
Every year on February 1, Amazon Baby Sale kicks off with up to 60% off baby supplies and essentials. The first round of deals run Feb. 1 - 13 with a second round running Feb. 14 through the end of the month.
Here's what you should shop in the Amazon Baby Sale
Up to 50% off toys and activities from Fisher-Price and Baby Einstein
25% off Graco and up to 50% off other stroller brands
Up to 65% off baby essentials like thermometers and baby monitors
Discounts of up to 35% off on Amazon brand diapers and wipes (which are already some of the lowest per-diaper prices out there)
Walmart's Baby Sale drops on Feb. 15, but deals went live early.
Not to be outdone, the Walmart Baby Sale also has some hefty discounts on baby gear in February.
4. Bedding and mattresses.
What things go on sale for Presidents Day?
Here are our picks for the things you should shop during Presidents Day weekend.
Sheets, pillows, comforters, and bedding sets
Mattresses
Small and large home appliances
Towels and bath linens
Furniture
Target
We expect the Target Presidents Day Sale in 2024 will start on Friday, February 16, and run through Presidents Day (Monday, February 19, 2024). Plan for a pretty wide variety of deals from home décor to apparel. Most deals will be available online and in-store, but expect some home and clothing deals to be in-store only.
Home Depot
We predict the Home Depot Presidents Day Sale will start on Feb. 15, 2024. You can typically expect to save between 25% and 50% off regular prices. Watch for major appliances up to 30% off, including washers, dryers, stove ranges, and range hoods.
Lowe's
Lowe's Presidents Day Sale will likely start on Thursday, Feb. 8, and run through Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. Lowe's has been known to drop "buy more, save more" deals on major appliances for Presidents' Day. So on top of sale prices on washers, dryers, refrigerators, and more (up to 40% off), you have the chance to take an extra $75 - $750 off your purchase.
Amazon
The Amazon Presidents Day Sale is coming up on Feb. 19, 2024, but deals usually start popping up as early as a week before. Watch for up to 60% off top beauty brands with an additional 5% to 15% off when you Subscribe & Save. Home appliances like vacuums and kitchen gadgets are slashed by 20% to 50%. And we've even seen 20% off Apple products during this sale.
Macy's
You'll save on pretty much everything during the Macy's Presidents Day Sale. We see up to 60% off Special Buys and they often have a coupon code you can stack on top of the sale prices. Last year it was an additional 15% off. Plus, shipping will likely be free with $25 instead of the usual $49 threshold.
5. Snacks.
One of the best things to buy in February is snack food, thanks to National Snack Food Month. (Also thanks to the Super Bowl, let’s be honest.)
Stock up on snacks for the big game, school lunches, or after-school treats. Use whatever you don’t eat for later in the year during backyard BBQ season and summer snacks for the kids.
Amazon snack deals are some of the lowest prices you'll find this month. Plus, you can get an additional 5% to 15% off with Subscribe & Save (don't forget, you can cancel your Amazon subscription anytime!).
Aim to get at least 30% off during this month's snack sales and look for the deepest discounts on:
Snack-size chips
Fruit snacks
Granola bars and breakfast bars
6. Winter boots, hats and accessories.
We've been telling you to hold off on winter apparel clearance for a couple of months now. And it's finally time to pounce!
We started to see up to 70% off deals in January, but February is when you'll see up to 90% off the original prices. We're talking cold-weather gear clearance — not just long sleeve shirts and fleece-lined pants. Stock up in February on winter puffer coats, boots, and gloves for next year.
Macy's — Get 65% off top brands like The North Face and Columbia, and up to 80% off brands like Epic Threads, Style & Co., and more.
Carhartt — You'll score 50% off original prices in Carhartt clearance sales. Shop beanies as low as $7.50.
Walmart — We see 75% off outerwear at Walmart in February, with prices as low as $6 for kids' puffer coats.
Kohl's — We've seen 60% - 70% off brands like Columbia and Nike, and over 75% off outerwear brand ZeroXposur.
32 Degrees — Aim to save 80% or more on this outdoor brand in February.
7. Tax software.
Tax software gets more expensive the closer we get to the April deadline, so February is a great time to buy.
Groupon often has coupons for tax prep services, so check their site first. Then, compare prices to the discounts you’d find for software available for purchase in-store.
Check Amazon and Target for some of the lowest prices anywhere on TurboTax and H&R Block software. Aim for 30% to 40% off to get a true deal.
TIP: If you earn $56,000 or less, head to IRS.gov where you can choose a local tax-prep service to visit in person for help preparing and filing your taxes for free.
8. TVs
This year, Super Bowl Sunday falls on February 11, 2024. If you missed the Black Friday TV deals in November, you’re in luck. One of the best times to buy a TV is in the weeks before the Super Bowl. You’ll find similar deals to Black Friday on TVs from 48 inches to 75 inches.
You're going to find the best TV deals at Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and Walmart. Aim to save at least 30% to get a true deal. If you're seeing closer to 50% off, grab it.
These brands consistently have the best deals in late January and early February.
Amazon Fire
Element
Hisense
LG
Onn. (Walmart Exclusive)
TCL
Vizio
Westinghouse
Should you wait until after-Super Bowl for better deals or TV clearance? Our advice is to not wait. Some of the best TV deals happen in the weeks before the Super Bowl, so you’re better off buying a TV before Super Bowl Sunday instead of waiting until after. Retailers drop sale prices on smart TVs about a month or so before the big game and then they go back up in price immediately after.
February Reminders:
National FroYo Day is Feb. 6
Who says you can’t FroYo in the winter? Every day is a good day for frozen yogurt and especially on Tuesday, Feb. 6, National Frozen Yogurt Day. Look for deals like your first six ounces for free at TCBY, BOGO frozen yogurt at Menchie’s and more. We have all the FroYo Day deals here.
National Pizza Day is Feb. 9
We predict a lot of BOGO pizza offers on National Pizza Day, which is Feb. 9. Chuck E. Cheese, Schlotzsky’s, and more offered this perk in previous years. Other pizza joints (like Bravo! Italian Kitchen) offered 50% off all pizza purchases.
National Pancake Day means free pancakes at IHOP on Feb. 13.
IHOP celebrates National Pancake Day on a different day in February each year, and in 2024, it's Feb. 13, 2024. Just walk in to your local IHOP and get one free short stack (three pancakes) per customer for National Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
National Margarita Day is Feb. 22
Get a deal on everyones favorite tequila cocktail on Feb. 22, 2024. In the past, we've seen $2 off the El Jefe Margarita at Abuelo’s and two margs for $15 at Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar. Oh! And National Margarita Day blessed us with $5 margaritas at Bahama Breeze, too.
Leap Day Deals
This year is a Leap Year! We get a full extra day in February and restaurants and retailers are going to make the most of it. In 2020, we saw Leap Day deals at Chick-Fil-A and Olive Garden and at travel sites like Expedia and Hotels.com.
Wait until March to buy. . .
High-End Beauty and Skincare
Ulta and Sephora both have sales in March. Ulta usually hosts their 21 Days of Beauty Event while Sephora competes with their Oh Snap! Sale.
Cleaning Supplies
Spring cleaning is on everyones' radar come March and you'll score better deals on cleaning supplies during these sales. March 20 is the official first day of Spring and you'll find sales on Lysol, Clorox, Swiffer, and so much more.
Cereal
March 7 is National Cereal Day, so wait until March to stock up and stack low sale prices with coupons. Cereal is an ideal item to stockpile because it has a good shelf life when unopened — six months to a year.
