You’re used to seeing the smiley-faced vans around your neighborhood all the time, but does Amazon deliver on Sunday? The short answer is yes, but there are a few exceptions. Don’t worry, as tried-and-true Amazon-aholics, we’ll tell you everything you need to know.

Ultimately, it comes down to a few things like holidays, where you live, and even the items you ordered. And it doesn’t even matter whether or not you have a Prime membership.

For shoppers like me who want my Amazon orders yesterday, Sunday delivery is a must. So whether you’re as impatient as I am or you’re just curious, we’ve got the deets about Amazon delivery schedules. Let’s get to it.

1. Only select zip codes are eligible for Sunday deliveries.

Urban areas are more likely to have Sunday deliveries compared to rural areas. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t have a public list of areas that offer Sunday delivery. That said, I did a little experiment and asked my friends with Amazon accounts whether or not they could get Sunday deliveries to their addresses. I checked addresses in Colorado Springs, Los Angeles, Boise, and San Antonio and none were eligible for Sunday deliveries. But when I looked at an address in Boston and an address in New Jersey they were able to get a Sunday delivery.

2. You can find out whether or not your area offers Sunday delivery during checkout.

This will only work if your order is scheduled to arrive on the weekend. To check whether or not your location offers Sunday delivery, go to checkout, then look at your options under “Review Items and Shipping.” If you see “Sunday” listed as an option, your area offers Sunday delivery.

3. You don’t need a Prime membership for Sunday deliveries.

A Prime membership offers many perks, like free 2-day shipping, $5 a month meds with RxPass, and of course, Prime Day deals. However, Prime isn’t necessary to get your Amazon orders delivered on Sunday. What a Prime membership does get you is free Sunday delivery. Non-Prime members will have to pay a $6.99 shipping fee to receive their orders on a Sunday, regardless of whether or not their order meets the Amazon free shipping minimum.

4. Weather and holidays can affect Sunday deliveries.

While Amazon’s Sunday delivery service is convenient, some factors can impact the delivery timeline, such as severe weather and national holidays. During peak holiday seasons, carriers might experience higher volumes of packages, which can lead to delays in deliveries and overall more issues with shipping in general. And, in the worst-case scenarios, you’ll see an overlap between severe weather events and standard holiday delivery delays.

5. Don’t expect Amazon Sunday deliveries to come super early in the morning or at midnight.

While there is no one-size-fits-all answer, Amazon typically delivers packages between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. However, in some cases, deliveries might extend beyond this time frame — especially during peak shopping seasons or holidays.

6. USPS will also deliver Amazon packages on Sunday.

It’s not just the Amazon drivers who deliver your Sunday packages. Yep, the United States Postal Service (USPS) delivers Amazon packages on Sunday. An Amazon Delivery Service Partner may also deliver your Amazon orders on a Sunday (in our area we see rented “Fluid” delivery vans making deliveries). Seriously, they’ll do like whatever it takes to get you your stuff in the least amount of time possible.

7. Keep in mind, not everything can be delivered on Sundays.

With hundreds of thousands of items for sale at Amazon, what you can get delivered will vary by item and your delivery zone. Are you ordering something fulfilled by Amazon (rather than a third-party seller)? Your odds go way up. Are you close to a distribution center? Even better.

Once again, there’s no public list of which items are eligible for Sunday deliveries. The easiest way to find out if something can be delivered on a Sunday is to look for the Sunday delivery option on the product page. You can also look for this during checkout at Amazon.com or in the Amazon app. If it’s there, you’re in luck!

8. You can request a refund if an Amazon package comes late. But don’t count on it being granted.

If your package doesn’t arrive on a “guaranteed” day, even a Sunday, you can request a refund for your shipping. Of course, if any of the situations mentioned in the above tip occur, or in the case of a strike or natural disaster, getting a refund probably isn’t going to happen. However, in other circumstances, you’ve got options.

First ensure everything during checkout meets Amazon’s guaranteed delivery terms, including:

      • The shipping address is eligible.
      • You selected the same delivery date as shown on the product page.
      • You ordered the item(s) according to the “order within” countdown window.
      • Your payment was successfully charged before the listed deadline displayed during checkout.

Next, you’ll need to reach Amazon customer service about getting a refund 24/7. You can call (888) 280-4331 or chat online.
