Whenever Amazon throws its biggest sales (Prime Day in July and Prime Big Deal Days in October), it's never the only sale in town. Walmart and Target tend to throw being sales of their own.
Black Friday in July and Early Black Friday are totally a thing, and we're here for it. Here's how you can best take advantage of this flurry of sales around Amazon's Prime Day events.
To make sure you don't miss a single one of these sales, use our Deal Planner™ in the free Krazy Coupon Lady app to set alerts. We'll remind you as soon as the deals go live so you don't miss out. Download the KCL app now.
Why do so many retailers throw sales in July and October?
It's a predictable pattern. Amazon announces a giant sale, and other retailers do the same. In July, it's Amazon Prime Day. In October, it's Prime Big Deal Days.
October is also a sweet spot for retailers who hope to capture shoppers' early holiday prep energy. Retailers are starting their Black Friday sales in early November these days, so throwing sales in October has become a way to extend the holiday shopping season even further.
The Best Competing Sales We Saw in October
To give you an idea of what to expect during Black Friday in July sales, here are the big sales we saw retailers throw right on top of each other in October. Expect to see the same major players in the summer.
Amazon Prime Big Deal Days
Dates: Oct. 8 - 9
Amazon's big October sale has been around since 2022. It essentially serves as an October version of Prime Day, as only Prime members can shop the deals. While Prime Day in July has a distinct back-to-school vibe, Prime Big Deal Days is more about the holidays and early gift shopping. However, there are plenty of similarities between Amazon's two big sales, including huge discounts on Amazon products (like Echo products), chances to earn Amazon bonus credits, and discounts on Amazon subscriptions and grocery delivery.
Top deals included:
Halloween costumes starting at $5.
Up to 55% off Amazon devices
Up to 40% off TVs
Apple deals on AirPods (23% off), AirTags (19% off), and iPads (up to 40% off)
Up to 40% off winter fashion.
Deals on toys, including some from Amazon's Toys We Love list.
Up to 40% off travel.
Up to 48% off from small businesses who sell on Amazon.

You could shop the sale on Walmart.com and in the Walmart app.
Walmart has tweaked the name of their big October sale over the years, but it's always geared at early holiday prep. This year, Walmart called it Walmart Holiday Deals.
While you didn't need to have a Walmart+ membership ($98 a year) to shop the sale, Walmart+ members do get early access (among other perks). The sale kicked off online at midnight ET on Oct. 8 for members and at noon ET for everyone else.
