Black Friday is the best time of the year to shop gaming deals. Since retailers know people are shopping for gifts, they make sure their Black Friday deals on consoles are extra enticing. And in 2024, we saw some deals on gaming consoles that haven't been discounted in the past.

While demand for Xbox consoles reached an all-time high during Black Friday 2021, there have been no out-of-stock issues the past several Black Fridays, and more opportunities for video game deals. That said, even in 2024, you couldn't expect huge discounts on Xbox consoles (especially the newly released ones).

KCL TIP: Twelve percent of shoppers were looking for Black Friday deals on toys and gaming in 2024, according to our survey.

Black Friday can get complicated. To make things easier on yourself, use our new Deal Planner feature in the free Krazy Coupon Lady app to set alerts for all the Black Friday sales! We'll remind you when they start so you don't miss out. Download the KCL app now.

Best Black Friday Xbox Deals From 2024

Xbox Series S Deals

We saw the Xbox Series S (512 GB) for $248 ($50 off) at Walmart. While $50 isn't a huge discount, it's the lowest price we'd seen on this console so far. This was the digital version (that doesn't play physical disks).

Xbox Series X Deals

If you want to play in 4K, you'll need the Xbox Series X (1TB). Walmart had it on Black Friday for $52 off at $398. This is the digital version, which means it doesn't play physical disks. Amazon also offered the same price, but it sold out.

In past years, Walmart+ membership (you can sign up here for $98 per year) was handy for gaming consoles that sold out quickly. That's because Walmart+ membership gets you access to Walmart's Black Friday sale early (five hours early this year).

Granted, we last saw membership really make a difference in 2021, when there was a massive demand for gaming systems and a chip shortage. That's less likely this year. So spring for membership only if the following are true for you:

  1. You or someone on your list must have a specific collectible console bundle in time for Christmas, and ...

  2. That bundle is hot and low in stock or out of stock heading into Black Friday.

Discounts on the new models aren't likely.

It's common for new consoles to not be discounted much in their first couple years, and Xbox's new lineup of three just came out in October 2024. We spotted $50 off the Series X 1TB digital version at Walmart and Amazon, but none of the other new models were discounted in 2024.

  • Series X 2TB (physical disk drive), $599.99 full price

  • Series X 1TB (digital version, doesn't play physical disks), $449.99 full price

  • Series S 1TB (digital), $348 full price
