We’ve long been impressed by Target’s line of “adaptive” and sensory-friendly clothing for both kids and adults. But now Target has released their new collection of adaptive Halloween costumes for 2023, and we’re impressed by the reasonable prices, too.
When Target first launched their adaptive and wheelchair-friendly Halloween costumes in 2019, the lowest prices we saw were around $20. But this year we’re finding prices as low as $15 (for just one type of costume, but still).
And you can take those Target prices even lower if you shop with your RedCard, or use a few of our favorite tricks to save up to 40%. Let’s get to it!

But first — what does adaptive clothing mean at Target?
Adaptive clothing means that the items are more adaptive to movement and special needs. This clothing may include design details like hook-and-loop closures (instead of zippers or buttons) that make it easier to get dressed. You may also see additional features like hidden openings that let you quickly access abdominal pumps or other devices without having to take the clothing off.
These extra details often come with an added cost, but adaptive Halloween costumes at Target are actually priced pretty similarly to the other Target Halloween costumes we’ve shared.

Save up to 30% on adaptive Halloween costumes with a sale (or Circle Offer) in mid-September.
While they’ve already released the costumes online for 2023, Target waits until about mid-September to start giving us discounts. So if you can hold off on buying a costume until then, you can typically save around 20% with a Circle offer.
In 2023, we saw the first price drop of the season on Sep. 17 — 30% off Halloween costumes.
TIP: Only Target Circle members can redeem Circle offers, but it’s free to sign up — and totally worth it if you’re a regular Target shopper. Just clip the offers in your online account or in the Target app.
Look for a one-day-only sale on all Target costumes in September or October to save 30% – 40%.
This is one of those deals we’ve seen at Target for the last two years, but the 2021 date was far earlier than the 2022 date. And the discount varied by 10%.
Here’s how the one-day-only sale at Target looked in 2022 vs. 2021:
- 2022: 30% off Halloween Costumes (Oct. 14)
- 2021: 40% off Halloween Costumes (Sep. 21)
We’re crossing our fingers for a 40% off comeback in 2023, but we’ll settle for 30%.
TIP: Target also offered BOGO 50% off Target Halloween costumes from Oct. 3 – 8, 2022. Watch for this deal to pop up again around Oct. 1, 2023.
Get 365 days to return or exchange any Target-brand Halloween costumes.
If you buy an adaptive costume from Target’s “Hyde & EEK! Boutique” brand, the Target return policy will give you a full 365 days to make a return or exchange since it’s a Target-owned brand. Even if the item is used or worn. Just show a receipt or proof of purchase within the one-year window, and you’ll get your money back. Of course, you don’t want to abuse the policy, as they may take notice if you’re returning Halloween costumes on the reg.
If the costume isn’t a Target-owned brand, you’ll get the standard 90 days to make a return (or 120 days if you paid with a RedCard).

Shop for costumes right before Halloween, then request a price match when they go on sale.
The Target price match policy lets you claim a lower price on an item if it goes on sale within 14 days of your purchase. And since Target costumes hit 50% off the day after Halloween, you can shop for costumes a week before Halloween (as long as you’re okay with limited selection), then request a price match as soon as the sale prices kick in. You’ll get to pocket the difference.
