Walmart Black Friday in July? Prime Week? Walmart+ Week? What do all these even mean?
The truth is, these three events are actually the same — they all refer to Walmart’s sale in July that competes with Amazon Prime Day.
It all started back when Amazon launched their first Prime Day in mid-summer. That’s when competitors like Walmart stepped up to the plate, launching their own “Black Friday in July” sales to win over Amazon shoppers. While some stores got literal in naming their ‘Black Friday in July‘ sales, others didn’t. At first Walmart named their July sale Deals for Days. Now they’ve changed it to Walmart+ Week for 2023.
Whatever you choose to call it, Black Friday in July is a great time to grab Walmart deals. It’s probably the second-best sale behind the regular Walmart Black Friday sale in November.
I’ll show you which Walmart items to scoop in July and which ones to skip and wait for better deals in November. Here’s what to expect from the Walmart+ Week event in July:

Walmart Black Friday in July is a 3 – 4 day sale that competes with Amazon Prime Day.
Walmart Black Friday in July (aka Walmart+ Week) is a short sale that lasts for about four days max. It runs at the same time as Amazon Prime Day in July but for about one or two days longer.
During Walmart’s sale, you can expect deals on everything from tech and toys to small appliances and summer clothing. While some deals are true winners, not all of them hold a candle to Amazon. But either way, the Prime Day competition created a wonderful week of deals that wouldn’t otherwise exist.

Walmart Black Friday in July doesn’t last nearly as long as their November sale (and the deals aren’t always as good).
Amazon Prime Day may win the most Black Friday in July votes, but when it comes to holiday shopping, Walmart Black Friday is king.
While the event in July is always worth checking out, the sale is short-lived. It usually only lasts for 3 – 4 days, while Walmart Black Friday deals in November essentially run the whole month. Walmart Black Friday deals roll out in three separate events, ending with Walmart Cyber Monday deals at the end of November.
We’ve definitely seen stellar deals during Walmart’s July sale, and some are worth snagging right then and there. But others, like TVs, Apple products, and other top tech, tend to get better deals during the main Black Friday event in November.
Grab clothing, home goods, and seasonal toys at Walmart during Black Friday in July.
Based on Walmart’s Prime Week bestsellers last year, you can expect their Walmart+ Week event in July to be better for some items than others.
Pick up summer clothing at Walmart during Black Friday in July.
In July, Walmart will drop deals on a bunch of clothing and apparel, with prices that get as low as they do in November (and sometimes lower). Since you won’t find shorts, swimwear, and sandals on sale in November, Black Friday in July is a great time to grab these Walmart items for less.
Some home goods are cheaper in July than they are for Black Friday.
Last July, we spotted an Instant Pot Duo Crisp 11-in-1 Air Fyer Combo for $35 cheaper than it was for Black Friday in November. We noticed this trend for a few other home items, too, like up to 72% off outdoor decor and patio furniture. These items rarely get big price drops in the winter, so the July sale is a solid time to stock up.
Not all major toys are cheaper in July – but the seasonal ones are.
Some Walmart toy prices in July are pretty neck and neck with Black Friday prices. We only saw a $1 price difference on a 6-pack of Rainbow High Original Fashion Dolls between the two Walmart sales.
But if you’re looking for summer toys like water guns, pool inflatables, basketball hoops, and lawn games, you’ll score up to 60% off these items during the July sale.
You may even find great deals on Christmas decor in July.
In 2022, Walmart got all cutesy with the ‘Black Friday in July’ theme and dropped deep discounts on a variety of Christmas decorations. For example, we found artificial Christmas trees for 70% off – a deal that rivals Black Friday offers almost to the percentage point.
Though the best time to buy holiday decor is always during after-Christmas sales, keep an eye out for shocking deals during Walmart’s July sale, too.
Wait until the Black Friday sale in November to buy top tech and electronics.
For the most part, the hottest tech and most recent devices are significantly cheaper during Black Friday in November. This is just what we’ve seen in the past, so if you find a smart TV for 50% off at Walmart in July — grab it. But know that November will generally bring better deals.
