While Walmart’s been selling refurbished products for a while, this shiny new program certifies that the items appear like-new — and that a professional Walmart Restored seller has inspected, tested, and cleaned the product.
If you’re finding it hard to shell out $1,000+ for a new iPhone or $400+ for a KitchenAid stand mixer (and really, who isn’t?!), shopping for a refurbished item from Walmart may be just the ticket.
And you won’t always have to sacrifice quality. According to a Consumer Reports survey in 2021, more than 82% of people who reported buying a refurbished phone from any retailer were happy with their purchase.

What is Walmart Restored?
Walmart Restored is a new program that lets you buy refurbished items on Walmart.com that have been inspected, tested, and cleaned by certain Walmart sellers and suppliers. Sellers must be part of the official program in order to list their products on the site.
According to the FAQ page, the Walmart Restored items have a “like-new” condition, with no visible cosmetic imperfections (scratches, dents, or defects) when the product is held 12 inches away. And electronics must also have a battery capacity that exceeds 80% capacity relative to its new equivalent.
How do I know if a product is part of this program?
To verify that an item you’re considering is part of the program, look for a mention in the Walmart product description that it’s been “professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Walmart Restored Program Sellers and Suppliers.” You’ll also see the words “Restored” or “Refurbished” in the product name and a checkmark with “Pro Seller” next to the seller info.
Why should I buy Walmart Restored products?
Of course the biggest reason to shop Walmart Restored is to save some serious moolah on bigger-ticket items like iPhones, tablets, laptops, headphones, Dyson vacuums, and more. You’ll find discounted products from Apple, Samsung, HP, Dyson, and other major brands.
Aside from the savings, you’re helping the environment by keeping a gently used product out of the landfill and extending its life. Win, win.
The downside? You won’t get the same warranty that comes with new items.

Is everything included in the box?
Things you buy from the Restored site may come packaged in a generic box instead of the original product packaging, but all the accessories and manuals you’ll need will be included.

What is their return policy?
Walmart’s program lets you return or replace any restored item for free within 90 days of purchase if you’re not happy with it. To make a return, you’ll start the process on their website. (Just go to “Start Return Online.”)

What does refurbished mean, anyway?
While Walmart’s refurbished products have been around for a while, a lot of shoppers found that the quality of the items wasn’t consistent, and confusing lingo didn’t make it clear what they meant by “refurbished.” Was it open-box? Or gently used?
The Restored program from Walmart resembles the certifications offered by other stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. Items in the Restored program get Walmart’s official seal of approval that the item appears like new and that a professional seller tested, cleaned, and inspected the product. And Walmart’s generous 90-day return policy applies to the Restored items, too.
