Yes, the Ulta sales calendar is robust, with an “event” happening just about every month. But if you’re looking to replenish shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, it’s time to circle the Ulta Gorgeous Hair event on your calendar. But, wait, where the heck is it?
Historically this sale starts on the first Sunday in October, like clockwork. However earlier this year we started to see a change in Ulta's sale schedule.
If you recall, Ulta switched things up in March, renaming Ulta 21 Days of Beauty to the Ulta Semi-Annual Sale. During this sale they added more hair products than usual. During a conference call with media about that change, KCL inquired whether or not they would be skipping the Gorgeous Hair event in lieu of adding more haircare to the Semi-Annual Sale. Ulta's answer was inconclusive — they said their focus at the time was on the Semi-Annual Sale event.
Instead of starting the Ulta Gorgeous Hair event on Sunday, May 12, Ulta did kick off a Member Love promotion in which Ulta Beauty Rewards members can get 10x points on all shampoo and conditioner, and 5x points on other stylers and hair tools.
Unfortunately, that was the sale this year — bonus rewards on hair products instead of the traditional discounts. We're holding out hope for the fall sale in October because the Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event page still lists it as a twice a year sale that happens in May and then again in October. The internet doesn't lie, right? Right?
We’re digging into the details of the sale, but text HACKS to 57299 to get smart shopping tips delivered to your phone. And download The Krazy Coupon lady app for the latest deals and sales at your fingertips.
Ulta Gorgeous Hair is a twice-a-year, three-week-long event with rotating 50% off deals.
The Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event is a semi-annual sale that typically occurs in May and October, lasting for three weeks each time. During this event, customers can enjoy up to 50% off on various hair care products and styling tools from brands like Redken, Living Proof, and Pureology.
The deals switch out daily, so if you want the discount, you’ll have to act quickly. Ulta also tends to roll out surprise beauty steals and limits purchases to four items per deal, with exclusions on liter-size products unless specified otherwise. The sale is both in-store and online.
KCL predicts the next Ulta Gorgeous Hair event will begin Oct. 6, 2024.
Ulta hasn’t officially announced the next date for their Gorgeous Hair event, and clearly they are forging a new path from what they've done in recent years. Still, if we had to make a prediction, we here at KCL predict that it’ll take kick off on Sunday, October 6.
How do we make our prediction?
The Ulta Gorgeous Hair event in the fall historically starts the first Sunday of October, and runs for three weeks. So, based on that data, we initially came to an October 6 prediction. (The spring sale, for reference, also runs three weeks, and starts on the second Sunday in May.)
However, this year Ulta seems to be doing things differently. Since they switched their 21 Days of Beauty sale to start on a Friday, it is possible that the Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event will also kick off on a Friday. Only time will tell.
Here are the recent start dates for the fall sale, which informed our prediction:
Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023
Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022
Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021
Sunday, Oct. 10, 2020
Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019
Here are the recent start dates for the spring sale:
Sunday, May 14, 2023
Sunday, May 8, 2022
Sunday, May 9, 2021
Sunday, May 10, 2020
Sunday, May 12, 2019

Secrets to Shopping the Sale
Make a great sale even better by using these tips to maximize your savings.
Use Ulta Beauty Rewards points to purchase daily deals.
Yes, you can use rewards points to buy the daily Beauty Steals during the Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event. So if you have enough points to apply, use 'em. It's really one of the best Ulta savings hacks. Here's how the points system works:
100 points = $3 off
250 = $8 off
500 = $17.50 off
750 = $30 off
1000 = $50 0ff
2000 = $125 off
Note: You cannot apply Ulta coupons to their daily Beauty Steals during sales events, but your rewards points are in play.
Points multiplier promotions during the Ulta Gorgeous Hair event are a great time to rack up more rewards quickly.
While we do recommend using Ulta Rewards points on purchases, there is one exception. If there's a points multiplier promotion happening during the sale, go ahead and save those rewards so that you can get the maximum number of rewards points available to you. Points multiplier promotions are when a store offers 2x, 3x, 4x, and even 5x the amount of points per $1 spent than they normally do. So a $10 purchase could translate to 20, 30, 40, or 50 points, instead of just 10.
Spend $35 on your purchase during the event to get free shipping, otherwise choose store pickup (which is free).
It's not like Ulta never offers free shipping. They do. But typically you'll have to meet the $35 spend required to get it for online purchases. However, if you have an Ulta close by and your items are in stock there, choose in-store or curbside pickup to dodge shipping fees. Store and curbside pickup is absolutely free.
Note: Typically during these sales Ulta Rewards Platinum and Diamond members get free shipping, no minimum, on all daily beauty steals. Once in a blue moon Ulta will also offer this for all Rewards members, not just the top two tiers.
Combine sale purchases with free gift offers.
Often during the Ulta Gorgeous Hair Event, or any Ulta sale for that matter, there's a free gift offer attached to one of the brands involved in a daily Beauty Steal. For example, it could be spend $30 on dpHue products, get a free travel-size shampoo. Who turns down an extra little something if they're spending money on the brand (at a discount) anyway?
