If you’re a frequent Target shopper, you’ve probably seen a Target Optical location, since they’re in more than a quarter of stores. Target Optical is Target’s exclusive eye center that provides glasses, sunglasses, contacts, and even eye exams. I’d like to tell you the ins and outs of Target’s eye center, like how to use your Circle Card, what you can price match, and how the return policy works.
Here’s everything you need to know about getting glasses, contacts, and eye exams through Target Optical.
Remember to download the KCL app and toggle on notifications so you never miss a deal.
1. Always check Target Optical Special Offers like 50% off frames.
Your first step before shopping Target Optical, whether online or in store, should be to peruse the Special Offers page. You’ll see a handful of offers available at any given time. Here are a few that caught my eye last time I checked:
50% off designer frames
$150 off Ray-Ban contact lenses
Buy 1 Get 1 40% off on eyeglasses
$150 off Precision 1 contact lenses
20% off non-prescription sunglasses with $100 Target Optical purchase
2. Use Target Circle Card for 5% off glasses and contacts.
Target Circle Card holders get 5% off their Target purchases, and that includes almost everything at Target Optical (the only exclusion being eye exams.)
In store, simply pay with your Circle Card for 5% off on glasses and contacts. For online Target Optical purchases, you can’t pay with your Circle Card, but you have the option to check off a box for Circle Card owners to get the 5% off.
3. Use Target price matching on contact lenses, but not glasses.
Take advantage of the Target price match policy for contacts when you see a lower price elsewhere. They’ll match as long as there are no special offers or discounts going on, and only with Walmart or Amazon. Plus, you can still use your Circle Card on top of the price match!
If you’re in store, show proof of the lower price to the Target Optical employee. For online shopping, you’ll have to call Target Optical customer service at (877) 848-8476 to complete the transaction.
They don’t do price matching on glasses, though. Womp.
4. You can’t combine insurance with any other deals.
If you’re planning on using insurance for your glasses or contacts at Target, you won’t be able to combine it with any other deals. This includes Circle Card savings, store deals, and price matching.
5. Get free shipping on your Target Optical purchases.
No matter how much your total is, you’ll get free standard shipping on everything you buy at Target Optical. The standard shipping will take about three to five days, but you also have the option for two-day ($7.99) or one-day ($9.99) shipping.
6. You have 90 days to return your Target Optical purchases.
Like most cases with the Target return policy, everything under Target Optical has a 90-day return policy. If your items get damaged in transit, you can still return for a full refund, but not if you’ve damaged them yourself.
When it comes to contacts, the box has to be unopened, unexpired, and unmarked for returns.
7. Target Optical eye exam costs will vary by location.
But, when I asked how much the exam would be in another state, they told me $85 for the exam and $45 for the digital retinal imaging fee.
Your best option is to call your local Target Optical store and get a quote before you head in for your exam.
8. Use your most recent prescription if you have it handy.
