Prime Day Gift Card Deals: How to Get Up to 20% Off

Gift cards rarely go on sale at Amazon. But we see it happen during Amazon's major sale events like July's Prime Day and October's Prime Big Deal Days. In fact, those are usually the best times to find gift cards on sale (and get some holiday shopping done early).

During Prime Big Deal Days, in October 2024, for example, we spotted Gap and Old Navy gift cards for 20% off face value (pay $40, get $50) bright and early on the first day of the sale (they quickly sold out).

You'll need to act fast to snag Prime Day gift card deals

We suggest keeping an eye on Amazon's Lightning Deals page, because this is usually where Amazon's gift card discounts appear. You'll you'll need to check out quickly, though, because Lightning Deals are short-lived.

If you manage to catch them, Amazon's Prime Day gift card deals rival those of some of the biggest savings events of the year like Amazon Cyber Monday and Amazon Black Friday.

How do Amazon gift card deals work?

Amazon's gift card deals generally are offered in two ways. Sometimes, you'll get an immediate discount off the face value of the gift card (for example, you'll get a $40 gift card but pay $35). And sometimes, you'll get an Amazon promo credit that you can use on a later purchase).

You’ll find a promo code on the Amazon product listing under the price, which you'll enter at checkout. Amazon will ask you for an email address to send the gift card to, where the gift card will be sent instantly after purchase. Note that there’s a limit to how many you can buy on a discount; the promo codes are valid for only one use. And some gift card deals will even earn you Amazon credits, good towards your next Amazon purchase.

Here’s what you’ll do to claim these gift cards:

1. Go to the Gift Card Deals homepage.

2. Add one or more gift cards of the same brand totaling the qualifying purchase amount to your cart in one order.

3. Enter the promo code listed on the product page at checkout. Promotional codes are found in the “Special offers and product promotions” section of the product page.

4. There's a limit of one deal per brand.

5. If the deal includes earned Amazon credit, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of your order when your credit is ready.

6. The earned credit will automatically apply to your next eligible purchase during checkout. It isn't part of your gift card balance.
