The Amazon Shopper Panel is a consumer research program the company says will “help brands offer better products and make ads more relevant on Amazon.” Basically, Amazon is really interested in what you’re buying from other retailers, so they’re willing to pay you for your receipts (up to $10 per month). While it's not the most profitable way to earn money on Amazon, I'm not gonna say no to some free promotional credits. After all, these credits act as cash that you can use against a future order, helping you save money on Amazon.
Amazon recently (in August 2024) made some changes to the program. Specifically, it lowered the value of some types of receipts, so you may have to submit more receipts to earn the $10 a month.
So how much can you make using the Amazon Shopper Panel? How do you get started? And how does it work? What's changing? I did some serious research to answer all your burning questions and help you make the most out of the program.

What is the Amazon Shopper Panel?
So essentially, Amazon wants to improve their ads, and they need information to do that. Enter Amazon Shopper Panel. It's an invite-only program where Amazon users can submit receipts from other retailers, answer surveys, and opt in to voluntary ad data collection.
If you do get an invite from Amazon, you may be invited to participate in just one aspect of the program or all aspects. It depends on what info Amazon needs at that time. For example, you might get invited to share receipts, but not to participate in ad data collection or surveys.
That flexibility goes both ways, and you don't have to participate in all the aspects of the program that Amazon may invite you to. For example, if you're invited to all aspects of the Shopper Panel program but find that you want to participate only in receipts, you can control what you opt in to. In other words, Amazon will request your participation within certain parameters, but you don't have to opt in to all (or any) of them.
It might sound like a bit of work, but at least you'll get paid in Amazon promo credits.
If you decide that you want out of the program entirely, head to the "More" tab in the app and select "Delete your data and opt out."
How do you join the Amazon Shopper Panel?
The Amazon Shopper Panel is invite-only. So if you’re one of the lucky ones, you'd receive an official Amazon research panel invitation via email.
However, if you didn’t get the official invite, you can sign up for the wait-list by downloading the Amazon Shopper Panel app (via the Apple App Store or Google Play) and logging in with your Amazon account info. When spots open up, Amazon will start inviting people from the wait-list.
If you want to leave the Amazon Panel and give up earning an easy 10 bucks every month, just stop using the app. Learn more at Panel.Amazon.com.
What much can you make on the Amazon Shopper Panel?
1. Submit receipts from other big box, grocery stores, and others to earn $10/month.
If you’re accepted into the Amazon Shopper Panel program, every calendar month you’ll earn a reward for every receipt you submit for purchases you’ve made within 30 days. Each receipt will earn you up to $1, and you can earn up to $10 a month. You can submit receipts by taking photos of them using the Amazon Shopper Panel app or by forwarding email receipts to receipts@panel.amazon.com.
Amazon will credit your account with up to $10 each month — which you can apply to your next Amazon order, your Prime membership, or save for a purchase down the road. That’s $120/year worth of free credits!
Valid receipts include purchases from big box, grocery, dollar, department, and clothing stores, as well as drugstores.
Receipts from outside the U.S. or from Amazon companies and affiliates aren’t eligible. Receipts from restaurants, gas stations, and transportation services also aren't eligible.
You now may need to submit more receipts to get that $10, compared to the past
Previously, Amazon gave panel members $1 per any eligible receipt, meaning you needed to submit just 10 receipts per month to get your $10 credit. But starting in August 2024, some types of receipts got a lower value of $0.15 or $0.25 per receipt. Amazon communicated this change to members in July, via its Shopping Panel app:
Going forward, this is how much receipts will be worth in the Amazon Shopper Panel program:
Still $1 per receipt | $0.15 per receipt | $0.25 per receipt |
---|---|---|
Electronics stores | Convenience stores | Big box stores |
Home improvement and decor stores | Drugstores | Pet supply stores |
Clothing, shoes, and accessories, stores | Grocery stores | |
Sports and outdoors stores | Dollar stores | |
Department stores | Beauty & health stores | |
Specialty stores (gifts, craft, hobby) |
For program members, this changes the strategy a bit. You can submit fewer receipts if you concentrate your efforts at higher-value stores. But if you shop at lower-value stores, you'll need to submit more receipts to take home that $10 per month.
2. Enable ad verification to get another $2/month from Amazon.
Android and iOS users can opt in to ad sharing to get an extra $2 per month. What does that mean? You’re letting Amazon basically track the ads you view on a regular basis on your mobile device.
To set this up, here’s what you do:
Tap the Ads section of the app in the lower toolbar.
Toggle “Enable Ad Verification.”
Follow the remaining in-app step-by-step directions.
3. Answer Amazon surveys to earn additional Amazon credits.
Each month, Amazon will give you the opportunity to answer questions about various brands, products, or ads. In return, you can earn additional Amazon credits.
Surveys are totally optional, and as a participant, you can see how much each survey earns you. They’re typically one to three questions long and will earn you between $0.25 and $1 each — in addition to your $10 receipt credits.
4. Offers is currently in beta, but promise $1 - $3 per receipt.
A new feature called Offers is in beta, but there's a good chance it'll officially roll out. It won't replace any of the other money-making opportunities, though, so think of it as an added bonus.
If you're selected for the program, you'll receive "offers," which are essentially requests for receipts that include specific brands, products, or item categories. Payout is typically between $1 - $3 per offer.
Just like with other receipt submission opportunities, the receipts must be physical printouts from stores other than Amazon. However, with Offers you can submit more than 10 receipts per month. Essentially, your earnings are only limited by the amount of offers you receive.
Is the Amazon Shopper Panel legit?
Yep! The program is owned and operated by Amazon. I haven't seen any counterfeit apps, but it never hurts to practice good internet safety.
If you're looking to download the app, just be sure to only download from trusted app stores like Google Play, the Amazon Appstore, or the Apple App store. And double-check that the developer is credited as Amazon Mobile, LLC on Google Play or AMZN Mobile LLC on the Apple App store.
What if Amazon classifies my receipt as the wrong type?
Now that receipts have different values (instead of a flat $1 each), it's important that Amazon gives you the correct payout. After all, you don't want to submit a department store receipt (worth $1) and have it classified as a beauty & health store (worth $0.15). If that happens, you can request a review.
How to request an Amazon Shopper Panel receipt review
1. Go to your "receipt history" within the app.
2. Open the receipt you want to contest and look within the receipt details. Find "request review" in the top right.
3. Amazon will review your receipt, generally within six h
How do I get more surveys on the Amazon Shopper panel?
More surveys means more earnings, so naturally you'll want to get as many as possible. However, you can't really control how many surveys you get. Once again, it just depends on what information Amazon needs at the time.
Do competitors have similar programs?
Paying users to take surveys or share receipts is hardly a new concept. And luckily, at KCL we love easy side hustles to make a little extra cash. Here are a few programs that will pay you for taking surveys:
