Aisle Cash Back is a rebate cash-back program that works similarly to the Ibotta app or Swagbucks. The only difference? It doesn’t use an app. You get rewards by texting pictures of your receipt. Confused yet? Don’t worry, we’ll break it down step by step below.

While experiences vary, one Reddit user claimed that they spent $46.83 on a grocery store purchase and got back $64, proving that Aisle can get you some cool moneymaker deals. And aside from getting cash back, Aisle also gets you access to buy-one-get-one offers and even free items.

And while Aisle has been around since 2021, people are still learning about it. It’s So how does it work, and is it worth your time? Let’s break it down.

1. Aisle Cash Back isn’t an app. You get rewards by texting pictures of your receipt.

If you’ve tried any of the other cash-back or rebate programs, you’re likely used to having an app or website account where you can see deals and upload receipts. Aisle doesn’t have an app like that; it’s all done by text message.

Once you’re signed up, Aisle will text you with offers near you. (Note: While you won’t get charged for sending texts, I’m warning you that you will be bombarded with text offers a few times a day.)

Aisle App

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up for an account. All you need to do is enter your phone number and zip code. The app will also ask you about your favorite grocery stores and location. You’ll receive a text message upon signup.

  2. Once all that info’s entered, you’ll come across a page of grocery offers happening in your area from several stores and brands. Browse BOGO deals, coupons, and even freebie offers.

  3. Find an offer you’re interested in. Then, enter your phone number once more to get alerts specifically on that food deal.

  4. You’ll receive a text message from Aisle sharing the details of the offer you chose. It’ll let you know how many items are covered in the deal and when the deal expires.

  5. If you choose to participate in the deal, you’ll want to take a picture of the receipt after making your purchase.

  6. Send the picture back to Aisle to get your reimbursement.

2. You’ll receive cash back within a week via Venmo or PayPal.

You’ll also be asked to link your Venmo or PayPal account, which is how the app will send you your rebates.

So once you participate in one of their offers and make a purchase, take a picture of your receipt and text it to Aisle. And make sure to do this within three days after your purchase. Once approved, Aisle will send you cash back (or a full refund for free items) directly to your Venmo or PayPal account. You’ll always be paid within one week.

3. Aisle Cash Back is free to use, for the most part.

When you give Aisle your phone number, you’re agreeing to receive regular, automated text messages. The finer print lets new members know that message and data rates may apply. If you can’t stand the recurring messages or want to stop using Aisle, you can reply STOP to any of their messages at any time.

4. Send as many receipts as you can — even if there’s not a qualifying deal on it.

The absolute best way to guarantee that you’ll get cash back or special offers is to browse deals on Aisle before you start shopping. That’s because these offers were made in partnership with various stores and brands ahead of time and qualify for cash back.

However, you can absolutely text Aisle receipts at any point, from any grocery store, to see if your recent purchase just so happened to have a qualifying deal you didn’t know about. It never hurts to double-check.

And if you send a receipt that doesn’t have a current offer, Aisle will send back offers for items in similar categories to what you’ve purchased. That way, you’re more likely to get cash back next time.

5. It’s not just cash back! You can get free or BOGO products too.

Aisle also offers freebies and BOGO offers, which makes them stand out against most other rebate programs. You can get cash back on specific purchases, but you’ll also get offers for free food and beverage products and buy-one-get-one deals. You can even get a $1 welcome bonus when you sign up.

6. Make your purchases at any store. Just know that offers vary by zip code.

Because the offers vary based on your zip code, not everyone will receive the same deals. However, you can expect to find rewards in all types of grocery stores, including Kroger, Whole Foods, and Sprouts.

Aisle offers cash back, free products, or BOGO deals on several brands, but here are the top ones they typically have offers for:

  • High Noon Vodka Seltzers

  • Super Coffee

  • Topo Chico

  • Beyond Meat

  • Halo Top

  • Siete Chips

  • Tate’s Cookies

  • Yasso Pops

  • Half-day Iced Tea

  • Actual Veggies

  • Cloud Water

7. Just don’t expect to make a ton of money back.

As I said earlier, a Reddit user was able to make money by using Aisle. However, that won’t always be the case, as deals vary by time and location.

Aisle estimates you can generally save $1-5 per grocery store run — and in my experience, that’s a generous estimation. I live in a 2-person household and we buy a lot of store-brand basics, so not many of the items I frequently purchase are eligible for offers.

That said, Aisle is a great way to try new brands or products you’ve already been thinking about buying. For example, if you’ve seen Yasso Pops on the shelf and have wanted to try them, but don’t want to spend the money on something you’re not sure you’ll like, an Aisle offer is the perfect way to try them.

And, since Aisle is free and pretty easy to use, there’s really no reason not to try it. Just don’t go into it expecting to make a ton of money or rake in free samples every day.

8. Be mindful that you aren’t spending more money just because there’s a deal.

The promises of free groceries or making tons of money on any cash-back or rebate site usually sound better than they actually are. Whether you’re using Aisle, Ibotta, or a different service, go into it with the mindset that you might save a few dollars here and there.

Don’t expect to magically cut your grocery bill in half, and be very mindful that you don’t end up spending even more money just because you’ll get $1 back. But, as long as you use the service with this in mind, there’s really no reason not to try it out!
