What is the Old Navy price adjustment policy?

Price adjustments in general refer to when retailers allow you to get a refund for the difference between what you paid for an item and the item’s new lower price. Let’s say you buy a pair of fleece joggers for $30 and then you get a promotional email the next day that tells you the same pair of pants is now on sale for $15. Instead of feeling bummed — or going through the hassle of returning the item and rebuying it — some stores like Old Navy offer a price adjustment.

At Old Navy, if the item you’ve purchased experiences a price drop, you can get a onetime price adjustment, as long as it’s within 14 days of your purchase date. Therefore, it’s a good strategy to keep an eye on prices for two weeks to see if you can score a refund.

But not everything is eligible for a price adjustment.

There are a couple of catches to the Old Navy price adjustment policy. If you purchased items using Old Navy promotional codes or discounts, you won’t be able to get your price adjusted. And considering that so many online purchases in particular have promo codes, that could make a lot of the products in your cart ineligible. Free shipping codes will not disqualify you from a price adjustment, though.

The other main category of items for which you can’t get a price adjustment is anything marked “Final sale.” Chances are you probably snagged an awesome deal on last-chance clearance gear anyway, so you won’t have to stress too much over the missed savings.

Price adjustments for in-store purchases require a trip back to the store.

If you make an Old Navy purchase in store, you’ll have to take your receipt back to the store and ask an associate to adjust the price for you. If you lost the receipt, don’t freak out — they can likely look up your purchase history with your ID or payment method.

For online order price adjustments, you can call or chat.

Price adjustments for online purchases can’t be made in a store, but it’s an easy process.

You can start an online chat by heading to the Old Navy website and selecting the icon in the bottom right corner for thecustomer service page. Regular chat hours are daily from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. ET.

You can also call 1-800-OLD-NAVY from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. ET, seven days a week.

Whether you call or chat, be sure to have your order number ready (you can find it on your shipping confirmation email or on the packing slip).

Old Navy doesn’t price match competitors — or their own website in some cases.

While Old Navy offers a price adjustment on their own merchandise, they don’t price match with competitor store prices because Old Navy products are unique to them.

Also, in general, Old Navy considers their online and store prices as two separate beasts. So technically, if you’re buying a sweater in store and see it cheaper on the Old Navy website because of a promotion, the store doesn’t have to honor the online price. But Old Navy employees on Redditsay it’s worth asking, though, because some locations may approve such requests at their discretion.

Of course, you could just return the item to the store and then order it online at the cheaper price.

You can probably get a price adjustment on Black Friday purchases, but proceed with caution.

While there’s nothing explicit in the fine print that says Old Navy won’t price adjust their Black Friday deals, the full policy states: “See the specific promotion for details.” In other words, that could leave the door open for a specific sale to not be eligible for a price adjustment. If you’re hoping to shop ahead of Old Navy Black Friday and sleep in on the day of, it could be a risk worth taking — but it’s not a guarantee.
