Nordstrom Rack is undoubtedly one of the best places to get designer and name-brand clothing, accessories, and decor on the cheap. But even though their prices have already been slashed, Nordstrom Rack discounts their items even further during regular sales they hold throughout the year. That means you can save even more money — I’m talking about deals up to 60% off — when you time your shopping trip to coincide with the dates of a Nordstrom Rack sale.

To make sure you’re saving as much money as possible, I broke down this year’s Nordstrom Rack sale schedule so you can shop at the absolute best times. But it’s not as simple as circling a date on your calendar; you’re going to have to keep one eye open.

But it’ll be worth it; during their Clear the Rack events and other sales, you can expect big price cuts on designer clothing, handbags, luggage, home decor, beauty items, and more. Ready to save? Let’s take a look at when you can next expect a Nordstrom Rack sale in 2023.

Save an extra 25% on clearance during Clear the Rack events, which pop up about four times a year.

Have you heard about the Clear the Rack events at Nordstrom Rack? They happen about four times a year (roughly once per quarter) and are essentially a sale on top of a sale. The most recent one happened May 25 – 29, 2023 — but we expect the next one will pop up around July 20.

During a Clear the Rack event, which typically lasts two to four days, Nordstrom Rack offers 25% off already-discounted clearance items like clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty items, home decor, kitchen essentials, and more. You can shop the deals in-store, online, or in the Nordstrom Rack app (iOS / Android).

As for when to predict these Nordstrom Rack sales, they usually occur when the seasons change (e.g., transitioning from winter to spring or summer to fall). We tend to see Clear the Rack events pop up in March, May (around Memorial Day weekend), July, and November.

Oh, and if you’re a Nordy Club member, you can shop every Clear the Rack Sale a day earlier than the general public.

Nordstrom Rack flash sales are rotating micro-sales on specific products every day of the year.

Nordstrom Rack offers daily flash sales and deals that they share in their email newsletter and on their Flash Events page. These limited-time promotions give you the chance to find some pretty deep discounts on specific kinds of items and brands, for a limited time. Just browsing on May 23, 2023, we found the following flash sales all happening at once:

And if none of those grab ya, Nordstrom Rack lists the upcoming flash sales so you can plan ahead. The deals they share during these flash sales usually last for three days or less, so you have to jump on them quickly.

 

Find in-store and online discounts timed around major holidays and special occasions throughout the year.

Nordstrom Rack often holds sales that align with major holidays including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. These sales can include both in-store and online discounts.

Here’s a look at what we’ve seen in the past for Nordstrom Rack holiday sales:

• Memorial Day: Up to 60% off gifts for Father’s Day (plus it usually coincides with a Clear the Rack sale)
• Fourth of July: Extra 40% off clearance apparel and up to 70% off designer sunglasses
• Labor Day: Extra 40% off clearance and 40% off sandals (in stores and online)
• Black Friday (aka “Rack Friday“): Extra 60% off clearance starting the Wednesday before Thanksgiving
• Cyber Monday: Up to 70% off coats, boots, sweaters, dresses, denim, sneakers, and more

To score these deals, I suggest checking NordstromRack.com a few days before each holiday to see if they have announced any sales.

 

 

Skip shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale at the Rack — they don’t participate in the same deals.

Even though the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale sounds like it should encompass Nordstrom Rack, too, don’t be fooled. This annual Nordstrom sale doesn’t extend to Nordstrom Rack locations. (But you can return any Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases to any Rack location.)

If you’re open to heading over to Rack’s big sister to shop the Nordstrom sale, just know that it takes place every July (in 2023 it begins on July 17 and runs through Aug. 6) and offers discounts of 40% – 60% off new merchandise for a limited time. If you ask me, this is the best time to shop at Nordstrom to make their prices a little more reasonable (and closer to Rack prices). Here are some of the deals we found last year:

Just be sure to get there early if you’re shopping in-store, or check out the Nordstrom site right when the sale starts because stuff can go fast!
