If you love lululemon clothes (and shoes) and are always looking for a hot deal, listen up. The activewear brand recently launched a new program called lululemon Like New. This program allows you to buy and sell gently-used lululemon gear. With this Like New program, you can sell back your own lightly-used items or purchase pre-loved genuine lululemon workout gear, all for a pretty good deal. To give you an idea of the savings, I found leggings for as low as $35 (regular price: $72!).

I shopped the lululemon Like New program personally and this is what you can expect.

1. The lululemon Like New program started as an Earth Day project, but it got so popular they made it permanent.

In 2022, lululemon stores in California and Texas started accepting previously worn clothing as part of a sustainability initiative. The pilot program was so popular that they rolled it out nationwide for Earth Day. And it seems the lululemon Like New website is here to stay.

Now, 100% of the profits from their Like New sales go directly toward lululemon’s sustainability initiatives, which include creating more product recycling programs and coming up with better materials for the environment.

2. Everything is vetted by lululemon employees, so you know it’s legit.

The program is run by lululemon, so everything is vetted for authenticity and quality. Unlike buying secondhand on sites like Poshmark or Mercari, you can be sure that anything you buy from the Like New program is a true lululemon product in good, resellable condition.

3. It’s also a good place to shop for styles or colors they don’t make anymore.

Since lululemon changes up their styles from time to time, it’s possible you’ll fall in love with a product they eventually stop making. That’s where Like New comes in handy!

For example, I’m obsessed with the Wunder Under leggings that lululemon discontinued a few years ago. But I found several kinds in good condition on the site. In fact, they created a whole Wunder Shop section on the lululemon Like New site because they are so popular!

4. Here’s how the process works:

Once you’ve cleaned out your closet and identified any lululemon items you’re ready to part with, bring them to any lululemon store location. (As of right now, lululemon Outlet stores don’t participate in the program.)

In order to partake in the resale program, your items should be in good condition with no rips, tears, holes, or stains.

So what is NOT allowed? Their website states that the following items are not accepted for resale:

  • Accessories
  • Collaborations
  • Footwear
  • Intimate apparel
  • Self-care products
  • Small bags (like the lululemon Belt Bag)
  • Small pouches
  • Sports bras
  • Swimsuits
  • Tank tops
  • Yoga props

It’s worth noting that you can currently purchase resale shoes, sports bras, and tank tops on the website, so it doesn’t hurt to take those items in and see if they accept them.

5. Once your resale items are accepted, you’ll get lululemon gift cards.

Resale item values are all predetermined by the company, so you don’t have to worry about team members pricing your items differently. You can use the credit to buy new items at a lululemon store location, online, or from the lululemon Like New website.

lululemon Like New Resale Values:

  • $5 – Shirts, Shorts, Skirts
  • $10 – Hoodies, Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Pants, Crops, Leggings, Dresses, Backpacks, Duffles, and Totes larger than 10L
  • $25 – Outerwear

6. You can also shop the Like New website without reselling anything into it.

You definitely don’t need to sell back products to take advantage of the lululemon Like New deals. In fact, the process is pretty much exactly the same as shopping on the regular lululemon website. You can filter by style, size, color, and more.

7. Choose between ‘gently used’ or ‘like new’ to see different price points.

Each item you’ll see on the Like New website includes a “Condition,” which is classified in one of two ways:

  • “Good As New” — You can’t tell that it was previously owned, other than the fact that it doesn’t have tags attached.
  • “Gently Used” — Typically has a minor imperfection, which can include small snags or minor discoloration.

For instance, I looked at the pair of pants pictured above, which were marked at $59 for a “Good As New” pair. But a “Gently Used” version of the exact same pants was marked down an additional $10 due to a thread pull. Since that’s a fairly easy fix, it was worth the extra savings to me.

TIP: After you select a specific size, style, and color, you’ll see that each “Gently Used” listing will include a description of the item’s exact imperfections. For the pair of pants I mentioned above, it listed “thread pull found on item” as the reason for the markdown.

8. The ‘Last Call’ section has the absolute best deals.

To save even more money, filter by “last call” items, which is basically lululemon Like New’s version of a clearance section. I found the best deals here (leggings for $35!!) but it’s worth noting that these are the items that aren’t selling well for one reason or another. You likely won’t find any basic pieces here, unless they’re a less popular size. But it is a great way to try out new styles or colors.

9. If you don’t love your Like New items, you can return them (but it’ll cost you $7.50 per package).

You are able to return most items purchased from lululemon Like New, but items from the “Last Call” section or other final sale items can never get returned. If you purchase a final sale item, you can, however, bring it to a lululemon store and trade it in for credit. (Although you’ll receive less than you paid for it.)

If you want to see which items are eligible for returns from a recent order, visit the lululemon Like New returns portal and enter your order information. Remember that you will have to pay the return shipping costs, which are $7.50 per package, regardless of how many items you return.
