McDonald’s celebrated our favorite taste bud, Grimace, with his own meal that launched Monday, June 12. While we might not know a lot about the mysterious purple McDonald’s mascot (aside from the fact that he’s allegedly a taste bud and apparently a Gemini), we do have everything you should know about the Grimace McDonald’s Birthday meal.
In the past, McDonald’s has collaborated with artists like Cardi B and Offset, Cactus Plant, BTS, and more. Each of these meals was a limited-time release, and the Grimace Birthday Meal will be the same. You were able to pick up a Grimace Birthday Meal until July 9 or until supply ran out at your local McDonald’s restaurant.

The Grimace McDonald’s Birthday Meal included your choice of entree, fries, and a limited-edition Vanilla Berry shake.
The Grimace Birthday Meal came with your choice of Big Mac (regularly $5.39) or 10-Piece McNugget (priced at $4.99), Medium (normally $2.99) or Large ($3.99) Fries, and a Medium “Grimace Shake” ($3.89) that was Vanilla Berry-flavored.
The total cost of the Grimace Birthday Meal depended on your location. You were able to change the size of fries, but the size of the shake remained as a medium on all the Grimace Birthday Meals. Here were the different prices for each size:
- Medium Big Mac Grimace Meal: $11.29
- Large Big Mac Grimace Meal: : $12.69
- Medium 10-Piece Grimace Meal: $11.19
- Large 10-Piece Grimace Meal: $12.49

The Grimace Shake was Vanilla Berry flavored.
We weren’t able to grab a Grimace Shake without getting the meal through the app, but if you ordered in person, you might have been able to grab the drink separately.
Here’s what you can expect to pay for the individual shake:
- Small Grimace Shake: $3.39
- Medium Grimace Shake: $3.89
- Large Grimace Shake: $4.69
Exclusive Grimace-themed game and merch dropped on June 12.
On June 12, McDonald’s dropped an online Grimace-themed game where you play as Grimace looking for his friends to cut his birthday cake together. This game was made in collaboration with Krool Toys, and it will be available for free on your computer or phone.
They are also releasing exclusive Grimace merch on GoldenArchesUnlimited.com. This drop included a Grimace shirt, Grimace beanie, and Grimace pool float.

If you’re still craving a the Grimace Shake, you’ll be able to make it at home with this copycat recipe. All you need to do is blend these ingredients together:
- Three scoops of vanilla ice cream
- One cup of frozen blueberries
- A half cup of raspberries
- A half cup of milk
- A half teaspoon of blue spirulina
Be prepared for even more McDonald’s deals this summer.
McDonald’s hasn’t announced their summer deals yet, but for the last two years they’ve run a month of deals through the app. Last year, they had Camp McDonald’s deals every day in the month of July.
These deals included free Happy Meals, free McNuggets, discounted Big Macs, and even exclusive McDonald’s merch drops. We expect similar deals to be offered sometime soon.
