A single trip to the hardware store is almost never enough, even when you think you have everything you need. As a homeowner, you'll likely make several (or more) trips to stock up on supplies. If you're hoping to get in and out of the store quick, you've probably wondered: Does Home Depot take Apple Pay?

Don't panic, you have a few payment options to score the best Home Depot deals in a breeze. But if you’re a fan of contactless payment, you’re out of luck. Even though Home Depot still doesn't take Apple Pay, we ran up a full list of payment methods they currently accept. And you can speed up checkout process with a few steps in the Home Depot app.

Before your next in-and-out trip to the store:

Does Home Depot Take Apple Pay?

Home Depot does not take Apple Pay online or in stores in 2024. They also don't accept other types of mobile payments, like Google Pay or Venmo.

We called up multiple Home Depot locations in April 2024 and confirmed they still don't accept Apple Pay. Even though way back in February 2023, a Home Depot rep told KCL that adding a tap-to-pay option was a hope for the near future.

As for why they don't take Apple Pay, Home Depot's partnership with PayPal could prevent them from offering other payment options, but that's unconfirmed.

Accepted Home Depot Payment Methods

Whether you’re placing an online order or running into the store for another gallon of paint, there are plenty of ways to pay. They accept multiple types of credit cards — including the Home Depot Consumer Credit Card — as well as cash, checks, and debit cards.

If you like the convenience of checking out via a quick tap of your phone, Home Depot does allow you to pay with PayPal. You can link your account when you shop online, or pull it up on your phone when you checkout in-store.

In-Store Payment Methods

Add your payment info to the Home Depot app for faster checkout.

To speed things up at checkout, download the Home Depot app (App Store / Google Play).

Right now, the app doesn't have a mobile wallet feature (aka scan-and-pay). But you can add your payment info to the app for easy online orders and store pickups. Here's how:

  1. Sign in or create a new account

  2. Click the ‘Me’ icon at the bottom of your screen

  3. Under ‘Account,’ click ‘Cards and Accounts’

  4. Click the ‘Credit Cards’ button to enter your credit or debit card information

  5. Click the ‘PayPal’ button to connect your PayPal account to the Home Depot app

Using the app can save you time inside the store, too. Add the items you need to your "product list" within the app. Then, when you get to the store, use the store map and navigation tool to find what you need fast.

Do other stores like Home Depot take Apple Pay?

Home Depot is one of the only major hardware stores that doesn’t accept Apple Pay. Shoppers at Menards, Lowe’s, and Ace Hardware all have the convenient tap-to-pay option.

And their main competitor Lowe’s accepts Apple Pay in-stores and online. You can even connect your MyLowe’s Rewards to your Apple Wallet.

Ace Hardware and Menard's also accept Apple Pay, but we confirmed it's an in-store-only perk at both retailers.
