If you’re looking to plan some frugal fun with the kids this spring, heading to see the Bass Pro Shop Easter bunny can be a cheap (or completely free!) way to spend a few hours. If you got your photo with the Bass Pro Shop Santa last December, you can expect a similar experience for Easter.

Reservations for the Bass Pro Shops’ Easter bunny officially opened on March 16, and you’ll want to jump on it FAST so you get your free photo. In addition to the free photo, you can usually count on some free activities for kids and a giveaway item with candy. We’ll get into all the details for 2024 in this post!

And Easter activities aside, Bass Pro Shops has other free fun when you visit in-store, like free fudge samples and live fish feedings. So all in all, if you avoid spending too much time in the clothing racks, you can have a completely free holiday activity.

1. The Bass Pro Shop Easter bunny will arrive on Saturday, March 23.

Bass Pro Shops always hosts their free photo sessions with the Easter bunny starting the weekend before Easter. This year, that's March 23 - 24.

They released their appointment slots starting March 16.

Is the Bass Pro Shop Easter bunny there on Easter Sunday?

We expect the Easter bunny will be at Bass Pro Shops on Easter Sunday, March 31, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

TIP: Since Bass Pro Shops owns Cabela’s, you’ll also find the Easter bunny at Cabela’s locations. Use their website to find a Cabela’s near you.

2. Spots are limited, but you can avoid the crowds by reserving on a weekday.

While there are fewer total days to sit down with the Bass Pro Easter bunny than with the Bass Pro Santa, they do let you reserve a timeslot up to a week in advance on their website or app. The first reservations opened up on Saturday, March 16, 2024! To avoid crowds, consider reserving a spot on a weekday, when crowds are typically lighter.

You can only make one booking per family, but your photo can include the whole family (up to eight people).

Remember that spots will fill up fast. If you don’t snag a reservation, your best bet is to show up and get in the standby line (ahead of the 11 a.m. start time on weekends). While the line moves steadily, you’ll want to plan for a 20 – 30 minute wait without a reservation.

TIP: If you aren’t able to get a reservation, we’ve found it’s not always completely necessary. Most folks are funneled into two general lines between those with reservations and general walk-ins, and both lines move pretty steadily.

3. Each family will get one free 4×6 photo, as well as other goodies.

Every family will receive a free 4×6 photo print to take home (remember — you can squeeze up to eight people in a photo!). But the freebies don’t end there. Each child will also get to take home a bubble wand and candy.

Other offerings and activities may vary from store to store. Many stores will have some unique toys for kids to try out, usually in a designated booth or play area. During past events, we’ve seen Bass Pro Shops set up toy crossbows, Lincoln Logs, and some toy guns in a free shooting gallery.

TIP: If you visit the Bass Pro Shop Easter bunny on a Saturday, stick around for the free fish feeding that happens at noon!

4. You’ll have to pay $15 to get a digital copy of your photo.

If you’d like more copies of your sit-down with the Easter bunny than just the free 4×6, you can purchase additional copies to share with grandparents and friends. These will get printed out for you while you wait.

Here are the confirmed prices and offerings for 2024:

  • Digital high-resolution image: $15

  • Basket Package (one 5×7 and four wallet sizes): $15

  • Jellybean Package (one 6×8, two 5×7 prints, two 4×6 prints, four wallet sizes, and a digital copy): $20

TIP: If you opt to buy the digital image, check out our photo deals page for the latest savings on photo prints.

5. Bring your pup along for Easter bunny photos — nearly all Bass Pro Shops are pet-friendly.

Bass Pro Shops welcomes both service animals and pets year-round in all stores, except where local laws or shopping centers prohibit it. So if your cat or dog is comfortable posing with an oversized bunny, bring them in for a photo, too!

As of this writing, there are only a handful of Bass Pro Shops locations that don’t allow pets. Here are a few:

  • Dania Beach, Florida

  • Manteca, California

  • Mesa, Arizona

  • Spanish Fort, Alabama
