If you’re looking for trendy clothes at a reasonable price, Asos is one of the best online retailers to check out. Along with stylish clothes, the brand also has a good return policy. Want to know what’s not refundable? I’ll answer that, too. Have questions about the actual return process? I’ll go over all of that and more. Before You Start an Asos Return:
You have 28 days from the day you get your order to ship it back.
Because Asos is online only (there are no brick-and-mortar Asos stores), they count the day that you receive your order in the mail as the first day of the return window. So once your order arrives at your house, you’ll only have 28 days to return it for a refund.
Just be aware that if you try to send something back to Asos after the 28-day mark, they won’t accept it. They might even return the items back to your address and ask you to cover the delivery costs (!). This means it’s super important to return anything you want a refund for within 28 days.
TIP: Try on your Asos clothes as soon as you get them — and send back what you don’t want as soon as possible — to avoid missing that 28-day return window.
Return shipping is free.
Unlike some other brands, Asos offers free return shipping as long as you send back the items within the allotted time. This will save you a ton of money if you frequently shop at Asos. They’re also one of the stores with free shipping on all orders, so the only thing you’re paying for is the clothing. Free shipping and free returns make a big difference when online shopping, so be sure to look for retailers who offer this. Otherwise, things will add up, completely negating any deals you score.
Tags must be attached to get a full refund.
This rule in the fine print of the Asos return policy is pretty standard across most clothing brands. To get a refund, clothes must still have their tags attached. This means you can’t wear or wash the clothes prior to returning them. If clothes don’t have a tag attached, Asos won’t take them back. If you notice that something you ordered doesn’t have a tag when you get it, reach out to Asos customer service for help. (If you’re pretty sure you want to keep it, then it doesn’t matter if the tag is there or not.)
As a rule of thumb, I like to check each piece of clothing the day I get an order to make sure they all have a tag. I haven’t received anything from Asos without a tag, but it’s always a good idea to check.
Asos doesn’t do exchanges.
If you bought something from Asos and you decide you want it in a different size or color, Asos will not exchange the item for you. You have to return the item first and then reorder the one you want.
You can’t wear or wash your items if you want to get a full refund.
To get a refund, clothing must be unworn and unwashed. Since the tags have to be attached anyway, this point kinda goes without saying.
Final sale items can’t be returned.
You can’t return anything that is marked “final sale.” Even if the item still has the tag attached and you didn’t wear it, you can’t return it. Be mindful of this if you’re shopping in their clearance section.

How To Return Asos Items:
Since there are no Asos stores (it’s only online, like 6pm.com and SheIn), you can only return items through the mail.
How to return an item by mail to Asos:
- Log in to your Asos account.
- Go to “My Account” and select “My Orders.”
- Select “Create Return.”
- Choose the items you want to return, and use the drop-down menu to select the reason why (the item was too big or small, you don’t like the material, etc.)
- Select the nearest UPS Ground drop-off location.
- Hit “Create Return.”
- Check your email for your free return shipping label.
- Print out the label and attach it to your bag/box.
- Drop off your return and you’re done! Ask for proof of postage so you can track the progress.
- Once Asos gets the return, they’ll refund you within 14 days.
TIP: Always hold on to the original packaging your order came in so you don’t have to buy or find a new bag or box.
Exceptions to the Asos Return Policy:
Final sale items can’t be returned.
Anything marked “Final Sale” can’t be returned — no matter what. Be aware of this if you’re shopping online in the sale section.
Face and body products, as well as pierced jewelry, must have the protective seal intact.
According to the Asos return policy, you can’t return any face or body products if they’ve been opened and/or used. I would suggest only buying face and body products that you know you like so you don’t have to worry about this.
The same goes for Asos earrings. If it looks like the earrings have been worn or the original packaging has been tampered with, Asos won’t accept them.
Underwear and swimwear must have the hygiene seal intact.
If you buy underwear or swimwear from Asos and you don’t want them, you’ll only get a refund if the hygienic liners are still in place.
Face coverings and masks can’t be returned if they have been worn.
If you bought a face covering, you can’t return it unless it’s unused and in its original packaging.
What to Know About Asos Refunds:
You’ll get your refund within 14 days of Asos receiving your package.
Once Asos receives your returned items at their warehouse, they’ll have to first make sure that each item meets their Refund Policy guidelines. Once they do their check, you’ll get a refund back to your original form of payment within 14 days.
