The Home Depot Labor Day Sale is your last stop for summer savings and your first stop for fall deals. Compared to other Home Depot sales earlier in the year, landscaping discounts aren’t as good. But savings on outdoor grills, tools, and certain Home Depot plants are worth grabbing.
In 2025, we expect the Labor Day Sale will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 21, and run through the Wednesday after Labor Day. Home Depot stores are open on Labor Day during normal business hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time). However, most deals are also available online and in the Home Depot app.

During Home Depot's Labor Day Sale, the home improvement store discounts tools, outdoor grills and smokers. The Labor Day sale also features special deals on plants, like mums and fall foliage.
KCL predicts the Home Depot Labor Day Sale will start on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025.
Although Home Depot hasn't announced the dates for their 2025 Labor Day sale, we expect the deals to start Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, and run through Wednesday, Sept. 3. Deals will be available in store and online. In addition to deals, Home Depot will be restocking Home Depot Halloween products.
How do we make our prediction?
Since 2017, this sale has largely started on the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. But in 2024, they kicked off the sale TWO Thursdays before Labor Day. So with that in mind, that would put our 2025 predicted start date at Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025.
Now, the exact length of the sale has varied over the years — and has often gone beyond Labor Day itself — but we’re predicting it to last through Labor Day. Here are the start dates of the Home Depot Labor Day Sale in recent years:

Fall Mums: 2 for $10
For Labor Day 2024, Home Depot offered gallon mums 2 for $10. This was a significant upgrade from the 2023 deal, where 1-quart mums were priced at $2.50 each. In 2024, you got a gallon mum for just $5, compared to $10 per gallon the year prior.
Outdoor Grills
Home Depot usually gets us ready for all the weekend cookouts with nice deals on outdoor grills. Last year, we found the Pro 575 Wood Pellet Grill at $599, down from its regular price of $799, plus a 30-pound bag of Pro Blend Hardwood Pellets for $22.98 (regularly $24.98) and the 30" Cross Ridge Gas Fire Pit for $149 (regularly $219).
