It’s no secret that holiday shipping fees can be insanely expensive. Plus, even if you pay for rush shipping, that doesn’t mean your orders won’t be delayed. So how do you get your purchases in time for the holiday season without spending an arm and a leg? Here’s my advice:
Order well before the holiday shipping deadlines.
Take advantage of free two-day shipping included with a Prime membership. If you don’t have a Prime membership, start a free 30-day trial.
Order gifts online, but pick them up in-store. Some retailers, like GameStop, will offer discounts around the holiday season if you pick up in-store.
When is the best time to shop for holiday presents?
Black Friday is arguably the best time to shop for anything. Every store has a different Black Friday week schedule, but all sales overlap on Black Friday, i.e. Nov. 29. Be sure to check out our favorite Black Friday deals. And, don’t sleep on Cyber Monday deals either. For some retailers, there are even better discounts on Cyber Monday.
How do you know you’re getting the best price?
1. Check price histories.
If you’re shopping on Amazon, you should check the price history of a product to see if the deal really is worthwhile. The easiest way to do that is by using CamelCamelCamel.com.
2. Do a reverse image search to find the same product on different sites.
Sometimes searching for a product’s name on a different retailer’s site isn’t the easiest way to see if they carry it. Instead, I like to Google reverse image search to see if that same photo is used on another site’s product listing. It also pulls up results for visually similar products. The best part? the prices are listed in the upper right corner of each image so you don’t even have to click the link to find the cost. That way you can easily find the best price across different retailers.
3. Check for hidden promo codes.
Did you know Amazon has little-known promo codes that offer up to 70% off? These discounts take an already good deal to an insane steal. Where do you find them?
