One of the most viable ways to reduce your monthly payments is by sharing subscriptions. Lots of people are using each other’s streaming content and food delivery accounts and paying a fraction of the regular cost. Whether you’re wanting to engage in Netflix password sharing, double up on a DoorDash account, or enjoy the same Audible book with a buddy, you’ve got options.

Gather up your buddies and start doing some math; you’re about to divvy up a bunch of subscription fees and seriously impact your monthly budget.

We’ll explore various methods to hack these subscriptions, enabling you to share them with friends or family and save money in the process. From Netflix to Peloton All-Access, we’ll cover the ins and outs of sharing subscriptions across different platforms.

1. Netflix password sharing lets up to four people stream content at the same time — but sharing outside your home gets spendier.

Netflix Password Sharing Limit

Up to four viewers can watch Netflix at the same time (depending on the subscription level).

Subscription Price

Ranges from $6.99/month to $19.99/month

Netflix has cracked down on account sharing — which means that if someone outside your home is using your account, they’ll either have to be kicked off, create their own account, or add Paid Sharing to the account for $7.99/month.

There might be a loophole, though; if you share with someone outside their primary residence, you can avoid detection by logging into Netflix from their location at least once a month. If not, the $7.99/month Paid Sharing is still cheaper than paying for 3/4 of the account types.

There is a restriction on the number of devices that can stream simultaneously. This limit is based on your subscription level:

  • Netflix Ad-Supported ($6.99/month): 2 screens at a time
  • Netflix Basic ($9.99/month): 1 screen at a time
  • Netflix Standard ($15.49/month): 2 screens at a time
  • Netflix Premium ($19.99/month): 4 screens at a time

Each Netflix account has a limit of five unique profiles, but you can have multiple people sharing a single profile. No matter how many people are using the five profiles, though, only one to four screens can stream at a time. To share your Netflix subscription, give your login credentials to your trusted friends or family members.

And if you’re going to do Paid Sharing, know that only the Netflix Standard and Netflix Premium accounts allow it. Still, paying $7.99/month to get in on a Netflix Standard plan is almost as cheap as the Netflix Ad-Supported, but with all the bells and whistles. Even better for Netflix Premium — which allows up to two Paid Sharing users to join at $7.99/month.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $5.00, which can be achieved with the premium plan, shared among four users (in the same household).

2. Amazon Prime can be shared with as many people as you trust.

Prime can be used by an unlimited number of people you trust

Amazon Prime Account Sharing Limit

Technically you can share your account with an unlimited number of people; but do you trust them all with your payment info?

Amazon Prime Subscription Price

$139/year

Amazon Prime is a membership program that offers a wide range of benefits, including free 2-day shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music, and more. You can share a Prime account with as many people as you trust with access to your credit card information, as there’s no limit to how many devices can sign in with the same Amazon username and password.

To share your Amazon Prime subscription, simply provide your trusted friends or family members with your Amazon login credentials. Just remember that everyone who has access to the account can see and use the stored addresses and credit cards.

Nitty Gritty: There’s technically no limit to how little your monthly share of Prime could be if you shared the subscription with enough people, making the sharing possibilities for Amazon Prime quite flexible.

3. Spotify lets up to six people listen to music at the same time without affecting each other’s streaming.

Spotify offers 6 streams at a time

Spotify Account Sharing Limit

Each Spotify account allows up to six listeners at a time (with the Family plan).

Spotify Subscription Price

Ranges from free (with ads) to $16.99/month

Although there’s no limit to how many users can share a Spotify password to stream music, there is a restriction on the number of devices that can stream simultaneously, depending on the subscription plan:

  • Spotify Free: 1 account, with ads
  • Spotify Premium Individual ($10.99/month): 1 stream at a time
  • Spotify Premium Student Ad-Supported ($5.99/month): 1 stream at a time (50% off the individual premium rate for up to 4 years with a student email)
  • Spotify Premium Duo ($14.99/month): 2 streams at a time
  • Spotify Premium Family ($16.99/month): 6 streams at a time

The Spotify Premium Family plan allows up to six people to split the subscription without affecting each other’s music streaming, making it a great option for families or groups of friends.

To share your Spotify subscription, simply provide your trusted friends or family members with your Spotify login credentials or set up a Family plan, which allows each member to have their own account while still sharing the subscription.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $2.83, achieved with the Spotify Premium Family plan, shared among six users. That’s way lower than the individual Premium cost of $10.99.

4. Disney Plus lets up to four people stream at a time — but you gotta be careful if you’re sharing outside your home.

Disney Plus lets four screens stream simultaneously

Disney Plus Account Sharing Limit

Each Disney Plus account allows up to four viewers at a time. But… Disney Plus is rolling out new rules that crack down on any users who login outside the account’s primary location after 31 days. Makes it a little tougher to get Disney Plus cost savings by splitting the fee between households.

Disney Plus Subscription Price

Ranges from $7.99/month to $10.99/month

Although there’s no limit to how many users can share a Disney Plus password, there is a restriction on the number of devices that can stream simultaneously, depending on the subscription plan:

  • Disney+ Basic Ad-Supported ($7.99/month): 4 streams at a time
  • Disney+ Premium ($10.99/month): 4 streams at a time

All Disney Plus plans allow four screens to stream at the same time, providing a good opportunity for friends or family members to share the service together.

To share your Disney Plus subscription, give your trusted friends or family members your Disney Plus login credentials. As long as no more than four devices are streaming at the same time, everyone can enjoy their favorite content.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $1.99 with ads, achieved with the Disney Plus Basic Ad-Supported plan, shared among four users. Without ads, the cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $2.75, achieved with the Disney Plus Premium plan, shared among four users.

5. Max lets up to three people watch at the same time.

3 people can stream Max at the same time

Max Account Sharing Limit

Every Max account allows there to be up to four viewers streaming at a time.

Max Subscription Price

Ranges from $9.99/month to $19.99/month

While there’s a limit of five unique devices on any Max plan, only up to four of them can stream at the same time:

  • Max ad-supported ($9.99/month): 2 streams at a time
  • Max ad-free ($14.99/month): 2 streams at a time
  • Max ultimate ad-free ($19.99/month): 4 streams at a time

To share your Max subscription, give your trusted friends or family members your Max login credentials. As long as no more than four devices are streaming at the same time, everyone can enjoy their favorite content.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream you can get is $4.99, achieved with the Max ultimate plan, shared among four users, or the HBO Max ad-supported plan, shared among two users.

6. Apple Music lets up to six people listen at the same time.

Apple Music offers 6 simultaneous streams

Apple Music Account Sharing Limit

Each Apple Music subscription allows up to six listeners at a time (with the Family plan).

Apple Music Subscription Price

Ranges from $4.99/month to $16.99/month

Although there’s no limit to how many users can share an Apple Music password, there is a restriction on the number of devices that can stream simultaneously based on the subscription plan:

  • The Apple Music Voice Plan ($4.99 per month): 1 stream at a time
  • Apple Music Student Plan ($5.99 per month): 1 stream at a time
  • Apple Music Individual ($10.99 per month): 1 stream at a time
  • Apple Music Family ($16.99 per month): 6 streams at a time

The Apple Music Individual Plan and the Apple Music Family Plan are also included in Apple One, which bundles up to five other Apple services into a single monthly subscription. Apple One plans start at $16.95 per month.

To share your Apple Music subscription, simply provide your trusted friends or family members with your Apple ID login credentials or set up Family Sharing, which allows each member to have their own Apple ID while still sharing the subscription.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $2.83, which can be achieved with the Apple Music Family plan, shared among six users.

7. Hulu is built to share with one other person.

2 people can stream Hulu at the same time

Hulu Account Sharing Limit

Each Hulu account allows up to two viewers at a time (three if you have an add-on).

Hulu Subscription Price

Ranges from $7.99/month to $92.98/month

There’s no limit to how many users can share a Hulu password, but there is a restriction on the number of devices that can stream simultaneously:

All Hulu plans allow two screens streaming at the same time, but when you subscribe to a Hulu + Live TV account, you’re able to get the $9.99/month Unlimited Screens add-on. With that you get up to six different users — each with their own username/password. If you’re OK with the fact that only three of the users can stream at the same time, you’ll be able to get Hulu and a cable TV replacement for $13.16 – $14.16/month when you split the cost six ways.

Nitty Gritty: Hulu allows two screens streaming at the same time for all plans. If you have Hulu + Live TV, you can get a third simultaneous stream by paying for the $9.99/month Unlimited Screens add-on. The cheapest monthly cost per simultaneous stream is $3.99 with ads and $7.50 without, making it a cost-effective option for sharing with one other person.

8. Prime Video lets up to three people stream video content at the same time.

Amazon prime on laptop

Prime Video Account Sharing Limit

If you have a standalone Prime Video account (or if you have it as part of Amazon Prime), you can have up to three concurrent streams within the same Amazon account, with a maximum of two simultaneous streams of the same content.

Prime Video Standalone Price

$8.99/month

Prime Video is Amazon’s stand-alone streaming service, separate from Amazon Prime membership. While it’s included in the full Amazon Prime membership, it can also be subscribed to on its own.

Every Prime Video membership allows for three concurrent streams within the same Amazon account (but only two of you can watch the same title at a time). To share your Prime Video subscription, simply provide your trusted friends or family members with your Amazon login credentials.

Nitty Gritty: With a monthly cost of $8.99, the cheapest cost per simultaneous stream works out to be $2.99 per person, assuming three people are sharing the account and watching different content.

9. Costco memberships can be shared by two people (and the two guests they bring).

Costco gives cards to 2 cardholders, who can bring guests

Costco Account Sharing Limit

Each membership lets you share with one other person (plus two guests per visit) or anyone you give a gift card to.

Costco Annual Membership Price

Ranges from $60/year to $120/year

A standard Costco membership can only have two membership cards, and both cardholders will have to show proof that they live at the same address. A business account can have unlimited cards, but each additional card costs the equivalent of a full individual membership. Here’s the breakdown:

Anyone with a Costco card may bring two guests. You can also give nonmembers Costco gift cards, which they can use to shop in store without a membership. Online shopping at Costco.com requires a membership or a 5% surcharge on top of the prices.

Nitty Gritty: The most viable work-around for sharing a Costco membership is shopping at Costco in store with a Costco gift card, purchased for you by a paying Costco member.

10. Sam’s Club lets you share your membership with two guests (but you have to be with them).

Graphic showing only 1 cardholder per account

Sam’s Club Account Sharing Limit

Up to two guests per visit can piggyback on your Sam’s Club membership, or anyone you give a gift card to.

Sam’s Club Membership Annual Price

Ranges from $50/year to $110/year

A Sam’s Club membership includes one card, and adding additional cards costs $45 per add-on. You can add a maximum of eight additional cards for ‘Club’ accounts and 16 for ‘Plus’ accounts. Here’s how it breaks down:

Nitty Gritty: Non-Sam’s Club members can shop without a membership if they have a Sam’s Club gift card, which can be purchased by members for nonmembers to use in store. Online shopping at SamsClub.com requires a membership or a 10% surcharge on top of the prices.

11. Walmart Plus accounts can be shared by as many people as you trust with your credit card info.

Walmart Plus can be used by an unlimited number of people you trust

Walmart Plus Account Sharing Limit

Technically you can share your account with an unlimited number of people; but do you trust them all with your payment info?

Walmart Plus Annual Membership Price

$98/year

You can share a Walmart Plus account with as many people as you trust with access to your username, password, and stored payment information.

To share your Walmart Plus subscription, give your trusted friends or family members your Walmart Plus login credentials. Walmart Plus allows you to add multiple delivery addresses and payment options for your orders.

12. Audible allows ebooks to be downloaded to three different devices.

3 devices can be playing one audiobook per account

Audible Account Sharing Limit

Although you can share with an unlimited number of people, each e-book can only be downloaded to three different devices, and only two accounts can stream the same book simultaneously.

Audible Subscription Price

$7.95 per month to $229.50 per year

A subscription to Audible is actually a purchase of credits for audiobooks. The audiobooks you’ve purchased remain in your library and can be streamed or downloaded within the limitations — three devices, two streams at a time. If you download it to your phone and your laptop, you only have one device left for that book.

If you have an Audible account filled with hundreds of books, you can share the account very effectively, as long as you’re not streaming the same book as someone else at the same time. Here are the different subscription prices:

  • Audible Plus: $7.95/month
  • Audible Premium Plus Annual: $149.50/year (12 credits per year)
  • Audible Premium Plus Annual: $229.50/year (24 credits per year)

Nitty Gritty: While you can only listen to one audiobook at a time with Audible, sharing an account with another person is feasible as long as your listening sessions aren’t time-sensitive.

13. DoorDash DashPass can be shared between six people.

6 people can share DoorDash DashPass

DoorDash DashPass Account Sharing Limit

You can share your DashPass account with up to five people.

DashPass Subscription Price

$10/month

You can share your DoorDash DashPass account with up to five other people. (Technically there’s nothing stopping you from sharing with more than that, but DoorDash threatens to terminate your account if they catch you.) You can store an unlimited number of addresses and credit cards in the one account you all share.

If you feel comfortable, you could also “share” your account by placing orders for your friends and family, entering their payment information and address.

Nitty Gritty: Sharing a DashPass subscription is as simple as adding up to five trusted people to your account, making it a cost-effective option for enjoying free delivery on most orders.

14. Peloton All-Access accounts will let you create up to 20 individual profiles per subscription.

Peloton offers 20 profiles per subscription

Peloton All Access Account Sharing Limit

Each membership lets you create up to 20 different individual profiles.

Peloton Subscription Price

$44 per month

Peloton All-Access memberships come with 20 individual profiles, each with their own username and password. This makes it easy to share your subscription with friends and family without having to share your personal login credentials.

With Peloton, you don’t even have to own a bike or any of their other hardware to use the app — there are many meditation, running, walking, and bodyweight classes that don’t require any gear.

Nitty Gritty: The cheapest monthly cost per individual profile is $2.20 when you share it with the maximum 20 users.

15. Uber One can be shared with all the people you trust with your payment info.

Uber One Pass can be used by an unlimited number of people you trust

Uber One Account Sharing Limit

There’s no limit to the number of people you can share an Uber One account with.

Uber One Subscription Price

$9.99/month

Uber One is a subscription that offers benefits for both Uber Eats food delivery and Uber rides. While there’s no official way to add additional users or share the account, you can give out your username and password to trusted individuals. Keep in mind that whoever you share your login information with will have access to the payment information on file.

Nitty Gritty: Sharing an Uber One subscription is as simple as providing your trusted friends or family with your login credentials, but be aware that doing so grants them access to your payment information.

16. Apple TV Plus can be shared between six people.

Apple TV Plus offers six simultaneous streams

Apple TV costs $6.99/month, or $69.99/year, and it lets each primary subscriber share with up to five other people through a Family Sharing plan. And all six of you can stream at the same time (but you all need your own Apple ID).

Nitty Gritty: The $6.99/month price just $1.17/month if six people are splitting the cost equally. Or if you all go in on an annual plan, you’ll pay $11.65 each for the year (which is less than $1/month).
