Buckle up, Shamrock Shake fans — we heard from a store manager that the Shamrock Shake could make its annual return to McDonald’s earlier than ever on Feb. 3, 2025 (it came out Feb. 5 last year). It’s been around for more than 50 years, but the return of the Shamrock Shake always seems to be met with lots of fanfare. And we’ve got all the information on this treat and its McFlurry counterpart.
This is one of the many McDonald’s specials that only come out once a year, and while there aren’t many deals you can get to reduce the price of the shake, we’ll give you all the tips we know so you can save on this St. Patrick’s Day favorite.
Plus, we’ve got McDonald’s secret menu items you can only get when the Shamrock Shake is available. And, as always, we’ll keep you updated on any McDonald’s deals that come up.

What is a Shamrock Shake?
The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is a vanilla shake mixed with minty green Shamrock syrup that McDonald's fans love.
Most McDonald’s locations have a limited supply of Shamrock Shake syrup and don’t get any more of the product after St. Patrick’s Day, so you'll see it disappear in early March.
McDonald’s Shamrock Shake may cost $4 - $5 this year.
How much is a McDonald's Shamrock Shake? In 2024, we paid $4.19 for a small, $4.69 for a medium, and $5.19 for a large. With prices increasing, we might see a $5 price tag this year — we'll keep you updated.
Prices vary from region to region, so you may want to contact your local McDonald’s for more information on their specific Shamrock Shake prices.
How to get a deal on the Shamrock Shake?
If paying $4 or $5 for a green shake makes you cry a little on the inside, we get it. Try checking your McDonald's app for coupons every week. We often see a coupon for 20% off a $10 order, so you could score 20% off two shakes.
Will the Shamrock McFlurry be returning to McDonald's as well?
You bet! We see the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry hit menus every year at the same time as the shake, so expect it in early February.
The Shamrock McFlurry costs around $4.69, depending on your location, and it will likely be available through early March, just like the Shamrock Shake. We didn't see as hefty of a price increase on the McFlurry as we did on the shakes last year — and we're hoping for the same in 2025.
