You should aim to save at least 33% with Prime Day laptop deals.

Watch for up to 25% off Apple laptop deals.

During the last two Prime Day sales (in July 2024 and October 2023), we saw rare savings on Apple laptops, with discounts up to 32% off. Of course, the older models (2021 and older) usually get discounted the most, but still — an Apple deal is an Apple deal — so if you see 25% (minimum) discount, grab it.

Stick to brand-name laptops if you can — and watch out for third-party sellers on Amazon.

I’ve heard some horror stories from family members who bought cheap laptops they found on Amazon. Sure, the prices were rock-bottom, but they ended up having to return their laptop purchases over and over again due to mislabeled items or defective products. Crumbs in the keyboard on a “new” laptop? No, thank you.

My advice? Stick to the Amazon laptop deals from recognizable brands like HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Apple (just to name a few). To make sure it’s not from a third-party seller who might be trying to scam you, look for this information listed under the yellow "Add to Cart" button:

  • “Shipped from: Amazon.com”

  • “Sold by: Amazon.com”

Unfortunately, there’s not a super easy way to filter your search results by these options, so you’ll have to look for the details on each product page.

Ask for a price match at Target or Best Buy.

If you see a good Amazon Prime Day laptop deal, don’t forget that you may be able to claim the Amazon price at another retailer by asking for a price match. This could pay off if you’re a loyalty member or credit card holder at somewhere like Target or Best Buy.

  1. Target offers 10% off any electronics purchase (including laptops) on and around Prime Day via the Target Circle app. And Target Circle Card members get an additional 5% off all purchases. Target also price matches Walmart and Best Buy.

  2. Best Buy price matches Amazon, but you’ll have to submit your requests online or by calling (888) 237-8289.

  3. Amazon doesn’t price match at all, but there are stores that will price match Amazon. See all the stores with an Amazon price match.
