Unlike manufacturer coupons, in-store coupons are issued directly by the store. This means you can typically combine them with a manufacturer coupon and multiply your savings. We call this “stacking,” and it’s the foundation of krazy couponing.

Where to get the best in-store coupons
CVS
Before you buy anything at CVS, make sure you have a free CVS ExtraCare account. This is a must if you want to coupon at CVS and get in-store coupons.
You can get CVS store coupons a few different ways. We’ve all seen the mile-long CVS receipts. Well, don’t be so quick to crumble it up and toss it. At about ¾ of a mile down, you’ll see CVS store coupons that you can use on your next visits.
You can also get CVS store coupons digitally in your ExtraCare account. Once you link your ExtraCare card, click “See Deals & Rewards,” then scroll through the offers and tap “Send to Card” for any coupon you want to redeem. Or, you can get coupons with the CVS Coupon Center (red kiosk). Just scan your CVS ExtraCare card, enter your phone number, or scan your ExtraCare Card barcode found in the CVS app, and the kiosk will print out coupons. Some are personalized and based on what you already buy, while others are manufacturer coupons or store coupons.
Walgreens
Walgreens offers in-store coupons in the Walgreens app, or at Walgreens.com. Joining myWalgreens is your first step to unlocking the best savings and needed to begin couponing at Walgreens.
All Walgreens coupons are now digital. You’ll find them in the weekly ad on Walgreens.com and in the Walgreens app. Often called “Load to Card” coupons (L2C), these are coupons meant to be loaded to your store loyalty account by tapping on them in the app or clicking on them on the website.

Target
Using in-store coupons at Target is super easy! All you need to do is download the Target app and sign up for a Target Circle account. You’ll be able to clip digital store coupons from the app or Target.com. There are percent-off coupons and overall purchase store coupons, like $15 off your order of $100 or more.

Dollar General
Dollar General offers in-store coupons for products and also an overall purchase coupon. Almost every weekend, there’s a $5 off $25 store coupon valid on Saturday only. You’ll find this coupon on the bottom of your receipt when you shop Sunday – Friday. You can also clip this coupon in the Dollar General app or at DollarGeneral.com. On top of the $5 coupon, the Dollar General app and website feature store coupons on specific products. You’ll see these digital coupons labeled “DG store coupon”.

Kroger Co.
Kroger Co. owns several supermarket chains. The most popular being Kroger, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, and Fry’s.
Each of these stores has a loyalty program where you can digitally clip store coupons via their store websites or in the store apps. These in-store coupons range from bonus fuel points to $15 off your order to free products.

Kohl’s
Saving money at Kohl’s is easy to do. The savings don’t stop at Kohl’s Cash and Rewards. Kohl’s offers in-store coupons, via postal mail and in the Kohl’s app. These coupons can be offers like 15% off your entire purchase, 25% off kitchen items, or $10 off your purchase of $50 or more.
You can also get a 25% off coupon when you make an Amazon return at Kohl’s. That’s just one of the many shopping hacks at Kohl’s.

Publix
Publix store coupons are plentiful. Within the weekly ad, you’ll find a few in-store coupons. But where the coupons shine is in the Extra Savings booklets. You can find these in store near the weekly ad, or print them on Publix.com. These coupons refresh every two weeks.

Rite Aid
Rite Aid store coupons can be found in the weekly ad. You’ll see the code “RC” followed by numerals below the coupon’s barcode, letting you know that the coupon is considered a Rite Aid coupon.
However, for no good reason, Rite Aid sometimes refers to these coupons as “Rite Aid Manufacturer Coupons,” which is kind of an oxymoron. For all intents and purposes, you should think of these as store coupons, which can be used in conjunction with another manufacturer coupon on the purchase of one item. Albertsons
Albertsons offers digital store coupons. In order to get access to digital coupons, you need to visit their website Albertsons.com or download the Albertsons app and sign up for Albertsons for U. On the website, you’ll know it’s a store coupon if it says “Personalized Deal” when you tap on the full digital coupon offer. Safeway
Safeway offers digital store coupons. In order to get access to digital coupons, you need to visit Safeway.com or download the Safeway app and sign up for the Safeway for U program. Like its parent store, Albertsons, it’ll say “Personalized Deal” when you tap on the full digital coupon offer via the Safeway website. Whole Foods
Whole Foods offers store coupons available online, in the Whole Foods app, and in Whole Deal brochures in stores. While you’re shopping in store, you’ll see signs corresponding to store coupons available in the app. Clip those and show your barcode to the cashier when you check out. 1. Share your address with stores to get free coupons in the mail.
Give your address to any store that asks for it. They’ll put you on their snail-mail list. Coupons in your mailbox aren’t super common, but they’re worth it when you get them.
For example, Bath & Body Works sends exclusive in-store coupons in the mail that they don’t send over email. These often include a coupon for a totally free item — no purchase necessary.
2. Check a store’s weekly ad flyer before you recycle it.
Before automatically recycling the stack of weekly flyers when they come, thumb through and clip out any in-store coupons you’ll use.
Last week I got a “$10 off a $50 purchase” coupon from the Target flyer I got in the mail.
3. Thumb through Sunday newspaper inserts for in-store coupons.
If you’re already looking through it and clipping newspaper coupons, you may as well be on the lookout for store coupons. Stores like Target, Publix, and Kroger sometimes include dollar-off coupons attached to the weekly ad. These coupons are normally exclusive to just the Sunday paper, and you won’t find them in the weekly ad offered in stores.

4. Tap “follow” on social media — Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for exclusive in-store coupons.
Follow your favorite stores on social media and you’ll get updates on events, promotions, and sometimes even in-store coupons.
Marketing on social media has become huge, especially since the pandemic. Stores and companies will offer exclusive coupons to their social media followers. For example, Chipotle has offered discounted burritos to their Twitter followers. Chipotle also partnered with Roblox to give users free burritos when they played the Chipotle game within Roblox. The only way you would know about this offer was if you followed them on social media.
5. Look through store aisles for hanging grocery coupons.
While you’re shopping, you may see coupons hanging in the aisle. I see this most often at Fred Meyer (Kroger), but other grocery stores do it too — especially smaller, local grocery stores.
Look for in-store coupons hanging from a tear-off pad or from a chain or string. You can typically use one per product in a transaction. Be sure to read the coupon to see if it’s a manufacturer coupon or store coupon. Remember — you can’t use two manufacturer coupons on one product.
6. Don’t throw away the coupons printed with your receipt!
Certain stores offer coupons that print after purchase. These coupons print from a machine near the register (aka a Catalina machine). There are Register Rewards at Walgreens and Catalina coupons at other stores.
Register Rewards (RR) are manufacturer coupons, and a Catalina coupon may be a manufacturer coupon with a specific deal or a store coupon.
Some major stores that offer Catalina coupons are Kroger, Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and Harris Teeter. This is also the coupon you’re most likely to throw away, because it looks like an advertisement — but don’t toss it!
