If you’ve got some Lay’s Potato Chips in your pantry, look out — there’s been a product recall issued.

Now, while there’s not anything like salmonella or glass in your bag of chips, there could be an allergen inside, which is potentially serious for some people.

Go grab your snack package and read along; we’ll tell you which products are affected, and what to do if you have ’em.

The Lay’s recall was issued due to undeclared milk ingredients.

Frito-Lay has recalled a limited number of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to undeclared milk ingredients from sour cream and onion potato chips. The chips may pose a risk to people who have a milk allergy or severe sensitivity to milk; they could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the chips.

A consumer complaint led Frito-Lay to investigate the matter, although the company says no allergic reactions related to this matter have been reported yet.

Frito-Lay is recalling 146 bags of chips sold in four states.

The recall applies to 146 bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips (13 oz) and Lay’s Classic Mix & Match Potato Chips (15 5/8 oz) that were distributed in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire — and were available as recently as April 16, 2023.

The affected bags of chips have the UPC codes 028400310413 and 0028400720151. If your product matches either one of those, check the official recall announcement to see if your specific bag matches the specific code date and manufacturing codes listed there.

It’s important to note that no other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes, or variety packs are affected by the recall.

If you have the recalled chips, you can return them — and don’t eat them if you have a milk allergy.

If you’ve got the recalled Lay’s Classic Potato Chips and have a milk allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, don’t eat them. Dispose of them immediately to avoid any serious allergic reactions. If you don’t have a milk allergy or sensitivity, you can still safely eat the chips.

If you’re eligible for a refund, contact Frito-Lay’s Consumer Relations department at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday) for instructions.
