Ready to make the most of your next ShopRite grocery pickup order?

I’ve highlighted all the online hacks you need to know when using the ShopRite app, from using digital coupons on curbside pickup orders to confirming your time slot online.

But before you jump in, be sure to download the KCL app for even more ways to save every day.

ShopRite grocery pickup is slightly more expensive than shopping in store.

ShopRite charges a $4.99 service fee on top of your total order. This is not to be confused with their grocery “Home Delivery” service, which charges a $12.95+ service fee on top of your total order (service fee varies by area and distance).

Look for ShopRite from Home weekly promotions.

phone screen showing shoprite app with online promotions icon circled in yellow

ShopRite rolled out their “ShopRite from Home” app, which is their way of encouraging customers to do all their shopping at their fingertips (it’s different from ShopRite Delivers, which is a nationwide shipping service).

Every week, ShopRite releases exclusive online promotions that you can only access when signed in to your account on their website or on the ShopRite app. To find it on the app, scroll to the bottom of the homepage and tap “Online Promotions.”

Here’s an example of what an online promotion looks like:

Pet Care: Save $10 when you spend $35 or more on pet products.

$50 minimum spend required on all ShopRite from Home promotions.

Some ShopRite stores will deduct the $4.99 service fee for pickup orders over $50.

Due to the pandemic, there are currently no running promo codes online.

However, a ShopRite from Home employee at my local store told me they will waive the $4.99 fee by entering a promo code on their end if your order exceeds $50 at the time of pickup.

You can call ahead to ask if your store offers the same promotion, but it varies by store (I called another store to confirm and they said they wouldn’t waive the service fee).

If you’re not sure about your store’s policy, it’s worth asking just in case.

Clip digital coupons and apply them to participating items.

ShopRite offers their own digital coupons, which are found on the app’s homepage. Here’s how digital couponing works with the ShopRite app:

  1. Tap “Digital Coupons” on the homescreen
  2. Tap a product you want (like batteries)
  3. Clip the coupon by tapping “Load Digital Coupon”
  4. Look at “Participating Products” below the coupon and tap “Add to Cart”
  5. Tap “Done” at the top right of the screen

Once you’ve clipped your digital coupons, they’ll be added to your Price Plus Club Card. If a coupon is successfully paired with a participating product, you’ll see “See Coupon” below the item in your cart.

The coupon will be automatically applied to your order when you check out.

You can use rebate and cash back apps to save, too.

Fetch Rewards app open on a cell phone with groceries laid out on a table below it.

Have I told you how much I love cash back apps? They’re a great way to rake in additional savings when you shop, so take advantage of all of them when you can. The following cash back apps work in conjunction with your ShopRite purchases:

  • Fetch Rewards scans e-receipts and physical receipts. Just connect your email address to get your rebate.
  • Ibotta accepts printed receipts only. At ShopRite, you can ask for your receipt to be printed at your pickup location, a big win for you!
  • Checkout51 normally doesn’t accept e-receipts, but they’re making exceptions right now. A customer service rep referred me to their Walmart e-receipt instructions to use with my ShopRite order.

You can add to or change your order in the app.

phone screen showing shoprite app with My ShopRite menu item circled in yellow

You can modify your order, but they’ll give you a countdown timer if you do (I had an hour and a half to modify mine).

Here’s how to add new items to your cart:

  1. Tap “My ShopRite” in the bottom nav bar
  2. Tap “Change Order” for the order you want to modify
  3. Tap “Yes” to confirm (you’ll be redirected to your cart)
  4. Tap “Shop & Save” in the bottom nav menu to add new items, or hit the “+” icon to increase the quantity of a certain item
  5. Leave the order as is and wait for the countdown timer to end
  6. If you tap “Cancel” to stop your “Change Order,” you’ll lose any additions and your original order will be processed

Here’s how to remove items from your cart:

  1. Tap “My ShopRite” in the bottom nav bar
  2. Tap “Change Order” for the order you want to modify
  3. Tap “Yes” to confirm
  4. You’ll be redirected to your cart; then, tap the “﹣” icon to decrease a certain item’s quantity

You can cancel your order free of charge.

phone screen showing shoprite app and a cancel order box that asks do you want to cancel order? click yes or no

You can also cancel orders. Here’s how:

  1. Tap “My ShopRite”
  2. Tap the order you want to cancel
  3. Tap “Cancel Order” and confirm by tapping “yes”

If you don’t see your order, that means the store is processing it. In that case, call your specific store’s Personal Shopper Team and give the time and order number for your order.

NOTE: I couldn’t find a number for a Personal Shopper Team online, so I just called my store’s number and they transferred me to the right department.

ShopRite will hold orders for up to six days, or until the order is no longer fresh.

If you’re not going to make it in time to pick up your groceries, what do you do? I called a customer service rep who told me ShopRite will hold your order until the items are no longer fresh, which usually ranges anywhere from two to six days.

If you’re going to be late, ShopRite requests that you contact them ahead of time. They’ll arrange a new time slot for you.

ShopRite is currently only allowing substitutions for essential items.

phone screen showing shoprite app with a box labelled allow substitutions for all products and circled in yellow

Under their current policy, ShopRite is only offering substitutions for essential items, which include:

  • Paper products
  • Disinfectant cleaners/wipes
  • Sanitizer
  • Bar and liquid soaps
  • Cough/cold/flu over-the-counter drugs
  • Fresh meat and poultry
  • Thermometers
  • Immunity Support products
  • Water
  • Bleach, household cleaners
  • Rice

When you check out, you’ll have the option to allow substitutions. If you agree to substitutions, ShopRite staff will choose a comparable replacement item at the same price.

Unfortunately, if you clipped a digital coupon and the item is substituted, ShopRite can’t honor the discounted price because their system won’t allow it.

If you don’t want substitutions, the staff will do their best to accommodate you if your preferred item is out of stock, but there’s no guarantee comparable are available. In that case, ShopRite will deduct the item from your cart before you pay at the pickup area.

Since inventory is unpredictable with the pandemic, ShopRite encourages you to call the store or contact them through their website if you’re unsatisfied with your order, as they no longer offer rain checks until further notice (unless you’re in Connecticut).

You can pay online, at the store, or use SNAP benefits.

phone screen showing shoprite app and payment screen with payment options pay online, at store or with EBT/SNAP

After tapping “Checkout” and selecting your time slot (more on that below), you’ll be asked for your preferred payment method. You can:

  • Pay online (through the app or on the website)
  • At the store
  • With EBT/SNAP

When you pay for your order, whether it’s online or in person with your card, cash, or EBT/SNAP benefits, the store doesn’t actually charge you until you arrive and get your groceries.

Combine digital and paper coupons to save on your total grocery pickup order.

Clip all the digital coupons you want, and bring any paper manufacturer coupons as well. While you can’t stack more than one coupon per single item, you can use multiple manufacturer and digital coupons on the same transaction. Just be aware that you can’t redeem more than four of the same paper coupon per household per day.

To apply your paper coupons to your order, just present them at the time of your pickup. Even if you pay online, your card won’t be charged until your order is complete.

See deals and weekly in-store prices by shopping the Weekly Circular.

ShopRite’s Weekly Circular features all their sale items and looks like a coupon page you’d pull out of a book. It’s a great way to see what items are on sale, and it includes non-food items (like electronics and patio sets).

It’s also where you can find updated prices for their products. Prices and promotions fluctuate weekly from Sunday to Saturday and are consistent both in store and online.

You can find the Weekly Circular on the home screen of the app. To clip a coupon in the Weekly Circular, just tap it.

Schedule your pickup no later than Saturday to get the current weekly promos.

To get your current week’s prices and promotions, schedule your pickup or delivery time no later than the current week’s Saturday.

ShopRite doesn’t sell alcohol, and you need a separate app for drug prescriptions.

phone screen showing shoprite pharmacy app in apple app store

You read that right. ShopRite doesn’t sell wine or spirits in store, either. If you want to refill your prescription, though, they have a totally separate ShopRite Rx app for that (iOS and Android).

ShopRite has a temporary “all sales are final” return policy.

ShopRite’s return policy is temporarily suspended. For the time being, all sales are final unless an item is defective or damaged. Otherwise, they instruct you to carefully purchase your goods and to buy only what you need.

ShopRite only offers grocery pickup and home delivery at select stores.

To see if a store near you offers grocery pickup, enter your zip code on their store locator page and tick the “Online Grocery Pickup” box.

You can confirm a time slot on the ShopRite app.

phone screen showing shoprite app and pickup timeslot screen reads only show available with wednesday april 29 afternoon times listed

Once you’ve completed your online order, you need to reserve a time slot for pickup at your respective store.

You need to be logged in to do so, and if you sign out of your account or change store locations before confirming your time slot, you’ll lose it.

Once you’ve confirmed a time slot, they’ll hold it for you for 90 minutes.

PRO TIP: On Fridays or Saturdays only, you can reserve your time slot for the following week to see that week’s prices reflected on each item and in your cart total.

Now that you’re familiar with ShopRite from Home, here’s how to use the ShopRite app for grocery pickup.

Step 1: Download the “ShopRite” app.

Not to be confused with ShopRite’s “Mobile Scan” or “ShopRite Deli” apps.

Step 2: Sign up for an account or log in.

phone screen reads welcome to shoprite and asks users to enter their rewards number

You’ll need to create an account to use the app. You’ll also need to be a Price Plus Club Card member, since your coupons will be loaded to that card.

You’ll have the option to apply for a card as you register.

Step 3: Start shopping once you’re logged in.

Once you’re in the app and no longer viewing as a guest, you can start shopping!

Here’s how:

  1. On the home screen, tap “Shop & Save” in the bottom nav menu
  2. Select a product category (like baking or beauty)
  3. Tap the items you want in your cart
  4. Tap “Cart” in the bottom nav menu
  5. Tap “Checkout”

Step 4: Reserve your time slot.

Next, you’ll be prompted to select “Pick up in store” or “Home Delivery.” Choose “Pick up in store” and then select a day and time that’s convenient for you.

PRO TIP: Select “Only show available” to display vacant slots on a certain day.

Step 5: Add order instructions or substitutions.

phone screen showing shoprite app with order instructions box and cursor inside. box below allowing for substitutions on all products is checked

You’ll have the opportunity to add specific instructions to your order and to allow substitutions.

This is also where you add your preferred payment method and any promo codes, too. Yes, with ShopRite’s store pickup, you can pay online, via PayPal, or in person as you pick up your order — and you can ask for a printed receipt as well.

Step 6: Get your groceries.

After completing your order, pull up to your store’s specially marked pickup area. You’ll have up to 90 minutes to get your spot before you lose it.

Once you’re there, call the number for your spot to alert attendants you’ve arrived. Pop your trunk or unlock your doors and you’re all set.
