Lowe’s Kids’ Workshops (formerly known as Lowe’s Build and Grow) are increasingly popular for parents. Not only are they free to attend, but kids have a blast testing their DIY skills. And for parents, it’s surprisingly fun to watch and help out. In other words, these events make our list of top Lowe’s hacks for a reason.
Lowe's workshops are similar to Home Depot Kids’ Workshops and free Michaels classes. Each monthly event gives kids a different project to tackle. Some of their past workshops have involved building toy trucks, butterfly biomes, and tic-tac-toe games. Lowe’s also has a new Senior Builders program that rewards kids for how many workshops they attend.

Lowe's DIY-U Kids Workshops are free monthly events where kids can build a project on a Saturday.
During the monthly workshops, everyone gets a kit filled with building materials. With their safety goggles on, kids get to work on building their projects at the in-store wooden tables. Lowe's has a different kit to build each time, and they typically follow a seasonal theme.
Lowe’s holds kids’ workshops on one Saturday per month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You have four sessions to choose from within that timeframe:
10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
11 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
11:45 a.m. - 12:25 p.m
12:30 p.m – 1 p.m.
Kids’ workshops at Lowe’s are best for ages 4 - 11, but kids of any age can attend. No one checks birthdays at the door (at least not yet). Visit Lowe’s DIY-U page to sign up for workshops.
The next Lowe's DIY-U Kids Workshop takes place on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.
Once they list the four upcoming events, new dates won’t be released until the current events have passed. On the Kids' Workshops page on the Lowe’s website, the next event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.

How to register for Lowe's Kids' Workshops
You have to sign up for Lowe’s Kids’ Workshops ahead of time or else you won’t be able to attend. You can register online and reserve spots for up to four kids per event.
Here's how to sign up:
Create a Lowe’s Account: If you don’t already have one, create a free MyLowe’s account.
Pick a Workshop: Visit Lowe’s DIY-U page to see which upcoming kids’ workshops are open for registration. You can register up to a month in advance.
Confirm Your Store: The form automatically defaults to a Lowe’s store in your area. Make sure it’s the one you’d like to attend or search for another store.
Complete the Form: Choose a time slot and select the number of kids attending, and then click "submit." You’ll get a confirmation email from Lowe’s shortly after.
KCL TIP: If you forget to sign up in advance, stop by your Lowe’s store when the workshop ends for a shot at leftover kits. They’ll usually hand out extras on a first-come, first-served basis.
How Lowe's Senior Builders Program Works
Lowe’s has a relatively new incentive program for kids’ workshops called "Senior Builders."
Every time kids attend a full 50-minute workshop, they take home a workshop badge.
Once kids earn six workshop badges, they become Junior Builders. When they earn 12 workshop badges, they become Senior Builders. Plus, they get a promo code for a free Kobalt Kids’ Tool Bag, which you can redeem online.
To qualify for each workshop badge, you need to register for the workshop ahead of time. Also, kids need to attend the full 50-minute event in store. Just remember — Lowe’s only has one kids’ workshop a month, so it'll take at least 12 months to earn 12 badges.

Lowe's Kids' Workshops: FAQs
Are Lowe's Kids' Workshops free?
Lowe’s Kids’ Workshops are free to attend. You’ll just have to register for each event ahead of time from Lowe’s DIY-U page. You can reserve spots for up to four kids per workshop.
Lowe’s often gives out leftover kits right after each workshop. So if you miss registration, stop by your store after 1 p.m. on the day of the workshop and ask if they have any leftovers.
What ages are Lowe's Workshops for?
Lowe's gears kids' workshops toward ages 4 - 11, but no one’s checking birthdays at the door. Any child can attend these workshops.
What happened to Lowe's Build and Grow?
Lowe’s used to have a separate program for kids workshops called "Build and Grow." But now, kids’ workshops fall under their main DIY-U workshop program. Same concept, different name.
Does Lowe's have workshops for adults?
In addition to kids’ workshops, Lowe’s has DIY-U Workshops for adults. But instead of building a mini DIY project, you’ll learn home repair and maintenance skills. Not as fun, but potentially more valuable.
Lowe’s adult workshops are also free and take place in store. But not all Lowe’s stores participate, and you can’t register online like you can with kids’ workshops.
Check Lowe’s list of participating stores to find workshops near you; then call the store to ask about upcoming events.
