After-Christmas sales are where you find super cheap wrapping paper and Christmas lights for next year’s festivities. But at Kohl’s after-Christmas sale, you’ll get oh-so-much more.

You’ll find “Christmas” clearance in every section, allowing you to save money on everything from vacuum cleaners to air fryers. These sales can sometimes rival those you’d see during Kohl’s Black Friday sale, and they’re made even better by overlapping Kohl’s Cash promotions.

It’s going to take a little work to optimize your Kohl’s savings strategy. Luckily, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you just like we do every day when you download The Krazy Coupon Lady app.

1. Kohl’s after-Christmas sale has discounts across every category.

Some stores only do Christmas clearance for candy-striped prints and tree toppers. But things are different at Kohl’s.

You’ll find discounts in literally every section of the store starting on Dec. 26. The items that are on sale are usually immediately marked down by 30% – 70%.

Then technically, there’s a markdown to 80% off that happens sometime around Jan. 14.

Here are some Kohl’s deals we found during their after Christmas sale:

2. Take the 30% – 70% off. Few items make it to 80% off.

Honestly? If you see an item you want on Dec. 26, it’s not worth waiting until mid-January for the bigger discount.

After-Christmas sales are intended to move inventory, which means these items won’t be restocked. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

And at Kohl’s, Christmas clearance sells out particularly quickly. Perhaps because early on in the sale, Kohl’s tends to run multiple Kohl’s Cash promotions at once.

3. Use your Kohl’s Cash during the after-Christmas sale.

Previously, we saw a Kohl’s Cash redemption period running from Dec. 25, 2022, through Jan. 1, 2023.

All that Kohl’s Cash earned between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24 was redeemable during this time.

And it just so happened to exactly line up with the first week of the Kohl’s after-Christmas sales.

TIP: You can stack Kohl’s Cash on top of other Kohl’s coupons and promo codes!

4. Earn Kohl’s Cash during the first day of the after-Christmas sales.

For the past several years, Kohl’s has also run a short Kohl’s Cash earning period during the first day or three of their after-Christmas sales. This is on top of the Kohl’s Cash redemption period that runs simultaneously.

The longest this earning period has run in the past is from Dec. 26 – 29. But last year and this year, it only ran for one day — on Dec. 26.

This round of Kohl’s Cash netted you $10 in store currency for every $50 spent, keeping in line with the pattern from years past.

TIP: A sweet new addition is Sephora at Kohl’s this year. Unfortunately, Sephora purchases made at Kohl’s don’t count for Kohl’s Cash promotions. But you are still likely to find steep discounts on Sephora holiday gift sets.

5. Keep an eye out for Kohl’s Cash bonuses.

On top of the $10 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent, keep an eye out for Kohl’s Cash bonuses on individual products. As long as you are planning to spend money at Kohl’s over the following month or so anyways, this can help boost the amount of money you’re saving.

For example, we’ve seen Shark vacuums marked down from $349+ to $299.99 during this sale in the past. Then there would also be an additional offer for $60 Kohl’s Cash with purchase, bringing the overall amount spent down to $239.99 after you factor in the Kohl’s Cash. That put the percentage off to 32%+.

Another example of an item you might see these offers on is luggage. One past sale was on American Tourister hard-side carry-ons, which originally were listed at $159.99. With sale pricing, they were marked down to $69.99, with an additional $10 Kohl’s Cash bonus. Ultimately, that suitcase was 63% off with Kohl’s Cash.

6. The lowest discounts are on sneakers and women’s sleepwear.

It’s awesome that there are discounts up to 70% during the Kohl’s after-Christmas sale. But there’s a bottom end of that range, too, closer to 30% off.

Of all the items that are on sale, we’ve tended to see the smallest discounts on sneakers and women’s sleepwear.

The caveat here is that not everything at Kohl’s is on sale during this “after-Christmas” time frame. There are some items that won’t even be marked down 30%. But you can expect some items in every section of the store to be included in this 30% – 70% off range.

7. The biggest discounts are on men’s dress clothes and holiday decor.

The items we’ve seen come out swinging in years past include men’s dress clothes and holiday decor. Things like:

  • Dress shirts
  • Dress pants
  • Casual pants
  • Home decor
  • Ornaments
  • Sports coats
  • Suit separates
  • Wrapping paper

These items have typically been marked down to 70% off out of the gate on Dec. 26. Other items might work their prices down to that rate as time goes on, but these sales are immediately available during the Kohl’s Cash redemption and earning periods.

8. Prices are almost as good as what you see on Black Friday.

After-Christmas sales at Kohl’s aren’t quite as good as Kohl’s Black Friday deals — but they come dangerously close. (Granted, inventory diminishes after Christmas.)

If you got gift cards for the holidays or accumulated a huge stash of Kohl’s Cash as you were shopping for others earlier in the season, this is a good time to splurge on something you want for yourself.

And by “splurge” we mean strategize your shopping trip to get something really cool at the lowest possible price, of course.
