One of the most popular places to find inexpensive, on-trend clothing and accessories is Forever 21. But if you’ve changed your mind about a purchase — or if you’ve ordered multiple sizes to try on at home — there are a few things to know about the Forever 21 return policy.
After digging into all the return policy details, we found out that some Forever 21 items can simply never be returned (like underwear and swimwear). For stuff that you’re allowed to return, you don’t necessarily have to bring the items back to a physical store — but that’ll save you the $5.99 return shipping fee. Here’s all the information you should know about the Forever 21 return policy before you ever start shopping.

What Is the Forever 21 Return Policy?
Forever 21 accepts returns within 60 days in two ways: either in person or by mail. But not all purchases can be returned both ways, which we’ll explain. Here’s what you need to know.
1. In-store purchases have to be returned in a store, not online.
If you visit a Forever 21 store and make a purchase, those items can only be returned in a physical store. But it doesn’t have to be the same exact Forever 21 store you shopped in. So remember — you can’t mail back in-store purchases and get a refund, according to the fine print of the Forever 21 return policy.
You have up to 60 days to make your return as long as you have the original receipt.
2. Purchases you make at Forever21.com can be returned in-store or by mail.
If you shop at Forever21.com and decide to return a few items, you can either bring them back to a Forever 21 store or return them by mail. We recommend returning in-store whenever possible to avoid the $5.99 return shipping fee (more on that in Tip #3).
To return them at the store, you’ll need the packing slip (included in your original order) or your confirmation email. A store employee can process the return for you, and you’ll receive a refund in the original form of payment.
To return them by mail, you’ll follow the steps outlined below.

3. How to Mail a Forever 21 Return:
To mail products back that you bought online, use the Forever 21 returns website to find your order and start the process. You’ll need your order number and email address.
If you placed an order while signed in to your Forever 21 account, sign back in and select the “My Orders” tab. Find the order you want to return, click “View Details,” and then “Return.” Follow the instructions, and choose whether to print a return label and drop the package in the mail at FedEx or do a drop-off at FedEx without using a box.
Return shipping will cost you $5.99.
You have to pay for your own return shipping label with Forever 21. They’ll deduct $5.99 from your return amount once the package arrives at their facility.
Since you pay the return shipping fee per label (not per item), make sure you select all the items you want to return at once. If you mail back a return and then decide to return another item from your order later, you’ll be charged another $5.99.

4. Exchanges can only happen in a Forever 21 store.
If you want to exchange an item you bought online, you have to do it at the store. According to the Forever 21 return policy, you can’t request an exchange when you return something to them by mail.
5. You’ll need your receipt to make a Forever 21 return.
You cannot return or exchange in-store purchases without a receipt. Even if an item still has tags on it, you’ll need the receipt — so if you’re not 100% sure about a purchase, be sure to keep the receipt.
Returning online purchases is a bit easier: you won’t need the packing slip as long as you’re able to look through your emails and find the original order confirmation and order number.
6. The 30-day return window gets longer during the holidays.
If you place an order online between Nov. 12, 2023, and Jan. 12, 2024, you can return or exchange it within 60 days from the ship date. If you mail the return back, it needs to be postmarked by day 60.
For in-store purchases made between Nov. 12, 2023, and Dec. 24, 2023, you have 60 days from the date of purchase.
7. Expect your refund from Forever 21 within two weeks.
If you have an in-store return that you paid for with cash, you’ll get a cash refund when you take your items back to the store.
For card refunds (either in store or online), expect it to take a bit longer. Once they receive your return in the store or by mail, it can take up to two weeks for the refund to hit your account.
8. You can never return underwear or a few other items to Forever 21.
There are some items that you’ll never be able to return to Forever 21, including:
- Underwear
- Bodysuits
- Lingerie and swimwear
- Earrings
- Body piercings
- Gift cards or e-Gift cards
- Anything marked “Final Sale“
- “Last Chance” styles $9 and under
