A heads up for League of Legends and Coca-Cola fans (or fans of both). The soda brand is coming out with a new flavor for this summer, and it’s out now. It’s called Coca-Cola Ultimate, aptly named in reference to “Ult,” or the ultimate abilities in League of Legends.
If you play the online battle arena game League of Legends, purchasing this limited-edition flavor will unlock special missions to earn rewards while gaming. And actually, this new flavor is supposed to taste like gaining experience points (more on that below)!
Even if you’re not a gamer, Ultimate’s worth trying. After all, it’s only available for a limited time. I got all the details on how much it costs, where to find it, and what it tastes like. Plus, learn how gamers can get rewards below.

1. Find Coca-Cola Ultimate in a mini-fridge at your local grocery store.
Grocery stores across the U.S. and Canada already carry Ultimate. You’ll see it wherever Coca-Cola is usually sold. Just look for a gold-to-black gradient label in place of the brand’s classic red color. Ultimate comes in 20-oz bottles or 10 packs of 7.5-oz cans. You’ll even find a Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar option available.
I found mine at my local Target in Los Angeles, California. It took me just a couple of stores until I found one. The 20-oz Coca-Cola Ultimate bottle was in one of the mini fridges stationed by the cash register. It cost me $2.29, which was the same price as a classic coke at my Target.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t track down the 10-pack of it anywhere (yet). I haven’t seen it pop up in the soda aisle where other Coca-Cola mini cans were sold. But, I was able to find it online for $6.49.

2. Coca-Cola Ultimate will only be available until Sept. 10.
3.Ultimate tastes like leveling up in a game.
Coca-Cola describes Ultimate’s as “leveling up” or gaining experience points in a game. This feels very subjective, considering it’s a feeling and not actually a flavor.
So, what does leveling up even taste like? In my opinion, it taste somewhere in the middle between Coke Zero and Sprite. It’s slightly fruity, light, and refreshing (for pop, that is). This makes sense since the flavor is only supposed to be available until the end of summer.
4. Purchasing the new flavor can actually unlock points and rewards for League of Legends players.
Coca-Cola Ultimate actually came out of a collab with Riot Games. You might recognize Riot Games as the developer and publisher of League of Legends.
Players who purchase Coca-Cola Ultimate can unlock missions and quests to gain limited-edition Ultimate emotes. (For non-LoL players, you can think of emotes as visuals that help express how you feel in a game.)
These emotes include:
- Tempo emote: Win a game in under 20 minutes to earn.
- Teamplay emote: Get 7 assists to earn.
- Gains emote: Earn 12,000 gold to earn.
To unlock these emotes, players simply scan the QR code on a Coca-Cola Ultimate bottle or can. Just know that these special emotes can only be unlocked now through July 18, 2023.
