If youāve never stepped foot in a Hobby Lobby because you donāt consider yourself a crafter, I get it. I have more Pinterest fails on record than Iād like to admit. But, the store is still worth checking out because there are Hobby Lobby deals on all kinds of stuff ā from home decor to holiday swag. So, you see, some of the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby have nothing to do with a sewing machine or a glue gun.Ā
Now, hear me out, as much as it hurts my heart that they discontinued their 40% off coupons, the Hobby Lobby sale schedule is legit. So you should still never pay full price on anything you buy there. And aside from their regular sales, there are plenty of other Hobby Lobby hacks to bring your total down.Ā
Keep reading to find out what I personally think are the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby. And for more smart shopping tips, text HACKS to 57299 and download The Krazy Coupon Lady app.
1. Fabric
In the Hobby Lobby vs. Joann vs. Michaels debate, Hobby Lobby comes out on top for its fabric sales. In fact, even among the best places to shop for fabric online, HobbyLobby.com is pretty great (though youāll have to pay shipping fees unless thereās a promo for a free ship on $50+ orders).Ā
Prices range from $5.99 - $9.99/yd. on apparel fabric at full price. But, fabric is literally on sale for 40% off every other week, so thatās when you should pounce.Ā
Heavier fabrics, like those used for upholstery, can run you $13.99/yd at the top of the price range. Again, shop for fabric on weeks when itās 40% off.
2. Holiday Decor
Among the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby ā holiday decor, hands down. Hobby Lobby celebrates most holidays, although notably not Halloween, and they start discounting these seasonal items almost as soon as it hits the shelves. For example, youāll see Hobby Lobby Easter decor at 40% off the last week of February, well before the holiday. Then it hits 66% off the day after Easter. For Hobby Lobby Christmas, the store usually enters the game in July, with at least 30% off their decor. The trick is to hold out until about a week and a half after each holiday, when prices drop to 90% off.
3. Party Supplies
Iām going to keep driving the point home ā you donāt have to craft to go all in on Hobby Lobby items. Case in point: their party supply section is robust and quite literally always āon saleā at 40 - 50% off. Paper napkins and plates, specifically, always hit the 50% off mark. For example, Watercolor Floral Paper Plates, 20pk. (reg. $5.99) are actually sold at $2.99, which makes the cost about $0.15 per plate. A 50-pk. Of large-size dinner napkins, with a regular price tag of $3.99, are marked down to $1.99 daily.
4. Kidsā Craft Kits
Activity and craft kits that contain everything a child needs to complete a small (or large!) project can feel like gold when youāre trying to keep them busy. Fortunately, these Hobby Lobby products are on sale every other week at 40% off. That takes the Hide-and-Seek Rocking Paint Kit (reg. $11.99) shown below down to $7.19. Not too shabby.
5. Home Decor
While I canāt encourage purchasing Hobby Lobby furniture, even at itās āalways on saleā price of 30% off, the storeās smaller home decor items can be a great deal. Plus, much of that decor is 50% off every other week. Mirrors, however, are always 50% off and they have pretty legit Anthropologie Primrose Mirror dupes, like the Antique Gold Ornate Wall Mirror (reg. $229.99). That mirror is marked down to $114.99 every day of the year.
Meanwhile, Hobby Lobby items like rugs, pillows, and doormats are plentiful and a good buy at 50% off. Like the Black & White Buffalo Check Rug (reg. $13.99) shown below for $6.99.
6. Storage Bins and Baskets
Every single time I buy a new storage bin or basket, it gives me hope that I am one step closer to corralling my life into becoming an organized one. That hasnāt turned into reality yet but I still think storage opportunities are among the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby. And, again, these are also marked down 50% every other week. So you can get a Two-Toned Woven Straw Basket (reg. $31.99) for $15.99 at least two weeks out of the month.
7. Yarn
Alright, so if you arenāt a crafter youāll probably tune me out right about now. But Hobby Lobby is an ideal spot to buy yarn, especially because, once again, it goes on sale every other week (youāre sensing a pattern, right?). But even at regular price (not that you are ever going to pay that), the numbers arenāt bad, typically in the $4.99 - $5.99 range for a skein. However when you hit the weeks when yarn is 30% off, that drops to $3.49 - $4.19.
8. Baking Supplies
Hobby Lobby products include everything from baking cups to premade fondant, so if you want to channel your inner Cake Boss, this is the spot. But specifically I like them for things like Edible Ink Markers ($5.99) to draw on the aforementioned fondant, which arenāt always easy to find other places. Now if youāre waiting for me to tell you that cake decorating stuff goes on sale every other week, I am getting to that, because it does. However, you wonāt find those Edible Ink Markers at 40% off. You will, however, find anything labeled Sunny Side Up Bakery at 40% off, and that line is quite extensive.
9. Faux Florals
Although this falls further down on my ranked list of the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby, Iād be remiss not to mention their faux floral department. It is massive, and, in my experience, really well organized, too. Plus, their florals go on sale (wait for it) every other week at 40% off. That means you can get garlands, wreaths, and stems at a nice markdown. And thatās important because otherwise items youāre paying $44.99 for their Magnolia Leaves Wreath ā and thatās too much. At 40% off that price drops to $26.99 ā much better.
10. Canvases
While canvases are one of the best things to buy at Hobby Lobby, I ranked this particular item the lowest because sometimes you can find even better deals at other stores like Hobby Lobby. Michaels and Blickās Art Materials are two that come to mind that have great deals as well, sometimes even B2G3 Free. That said, you can get a Super Value Pack containing seven canvases for just $12.99 at Hobby Lobby. The regular price is $19.99 but, as the Lob likes to do, their everyday āsaleā price is $12.99.
