Sam's Club Black Friday: Here's Your Schedule and Game Plan for 2024

If you're a Sam's Club member, you get exclusive access to the store's deals on toys, tech, gift cards and more. Here's what to know about the Sam's Club Black Friday sale (like when it starts) and what's most worth shopping (those gift card deals are reliably good) so that you can start to put together a winning Black Friday shopping schedule.

Sam's Club Black Friday Sale is a 4-day event, with deals on appliances, tech, toys, and gifts.

Sam's Club's Black Friday sale runs the whole long weekend, from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday. It features significant discounts on a wide array of products, including home items, electronics, kitchen essentials, gift cards, and toys. Savings range from 10% to 50% off popular brands and products across these categories.

The next Sam's Club Black Friday Sale will begin Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024.

According to the info printed in the November Instant Savings book, the Sam's Club Black Friday sale will take place from Thursday, Nov. 28, to Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024.

In the weeks leading up to the big Black Friday sale, they also offer a series of Sam's Club Weekend Doorbuster sales, which last three days each and feature a different selection of hot, gift-worthy items (that all tend to sell out quickly).

Sam's Club stores will be closed on Thanksgiving.

If you want to shop on Thanksgiving Day, you'll need to shop online as stores will be closed. Plan for the deals to kick off 12:01 a.m. ET online.

Expect Sam's Club stores to open 10 a.m. on Black Friday (earlier for Plus members).

Sam's Club isn't one of those open-at-the-crack-of-dawn stores when it comes to Black Friday. Their doors open at the normal time (10 a.m.). However, Plus members can get in two hours early (at 8 a.m.), including on Black Friday. You can sign up for Plus membership online. It costs $110 per year, compared to regular Club membership, which is $50 per year.

The 2023 Sam's Club Black Friday ad arrived on Nov. 16, so expect a similar rollout in 2024.

We got a physical copy of their Thanks-Savings Black Friday ad for 2023 in our mailbox on Nov. 16, about two weeks after their early November Doorbuster deals kicked off. Based on this rollout date, we expect to see the 2024 Sam’s Club Black Friday ad arrive around Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.

You'll find deals both online and in clubs, with some deals available exclusively online.

Most deals run both in-club and online. However, some deals last year were online only. For example last year's online-only deals included large jungle gyms, Sam's Club photo discounts, some furniture, mattresses, and eGift card offers. When the ad drops, check it for "Online Only" labels on certain deals.

Plus membership gets you some extra Black Friday perks, but it won't guarantee you deals.

Plus membership ($110 per year vs. $50 for regular Club membership) does give you some Black Friday advantages:

• Early access to online deals. Sam's Club usually kicks off their online sale on Thanksgiving at 12:01 a.m. ET. But Plus members get access to Sam's Club online sale two hours early (so, 10:01 p.m. ET).

• Early access to stores. Plus members get in at 8 a.m., while everyone else else gets in at 10 a.m.

• Free shipping on orders of $50 or more.

  

Given that early access, do you need to spring for Plus to have any hope of buying Black Friday deals? Probably not. The only exception would be if you're after a super-hot item that's tough to find in stock. We suggest watching stock leading up to Black Friday. If something is already sold out everywhere, and you must have it, then consider springing for early access.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some really hot deals will be excluded from Plus early access anyway. In 2023, for example, we saw the discounted Southwest gift cards, a Vizio soundbar system, and all the gaming consoles excluded from Plus early access.

Pay special attention to those Sam's Club Black Friday gift card deals.

Sam's Club usually offers a variety of gift cards for under face value during their Black Friday sale. They're available online only, and they usually sell out fast. So make sure they're on the top of your shopping list. Last year's gift card specials included the following:

• $500 Southwest Airlines eGift card for $399.98 — 20% off

• $250 Instacart eGift card for $199.99 — 20% off

• $100 Bass Pro eGift card for $89.98 — 10% off

• $50 Gap eGift card for $39.98 — 20% off

Expect all gift card specials to have purchase limits on them (usually a limit of two per person) and for them to be excluded from Plus early access.

KCL TIP: The Sam’s Club return policy won’t allow returns for gift cards, but you can return almost anything else, anytime.

The top Sam's Club Black Friday deals our readers bought in 2023 were heavy on home goods and toys.

If 2023's top deals are any indication, Sam's Club shines when it comes to discounted kitchen items and toys. The top deals from last year included all these:

If you’re planning to shop at Sam’s Club in person on Black Friday, make sure you download and get familiar with the Sam’s Club Scan & Go app. With the app, you’ll be able to shop without waiting in a checkout line. You’ll scan all your items as you shop, and then check out and pay through the app.

They usually have a deal on new Sam's Club memberships during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Both the Club level and Plus level Sam’s Club memberships often go on sale during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, giving you a good excuse to join as a new member for much less than the usual price.

In 2023, we saw the Sam’s Club 1-Year Basic membership on sale for $20 (regularly $50), which was 60% off. The Sam’s Club 1-Year Plus membership was on sale for $60 (regularly $110), which was 45% off.

These offers were for new membership sign-ups only, and you were able to start shopping online right away with a digital membership card.

Sam's Club Cyber Monday deals kick off the same day the Black Friday deals end.

Right when the Sam’s Club Black Friday deals are wrapping up, they kick off their Cyber Monday online-only savings. In 2024, these deals are available Sunday, Dec. 1 - Monday, Dec. 2, starting at 12:01 a.m. ET on the first day of the sale. Plus members get access two hours early. Everything is available while supplies last, and the gift cards typically sell out quickly — within the first day.

Sam's Club tends to offer different deals on different products for its Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. So the strategy isn't to skip Black Friday and wait for Cyber Monday. It's to watch items on your list and buy them if they go on sale during Black Friday. If they don't, check back Cyber Monday. For example, last year, we didn't see a Black Friday deal for the Meta Quest at Sam's, but we saw it with a $50 gift card on Cyber Monday.
