Ever since 2020, Home Depot has turned a days-long Black Friday sale into an event lasting 3 – 4 weeks. This year, early Black Friday deals started on Nov. 7 through Nov. 27, with the full Black Friday event kicking off on Nov. 28.
I’ve tracked Home Depot's sale schedule and Black Friday deals over the past few years. Basically, you don't want to miss their deals on artificial Christmas trees and holiday decor, which can reach up to 67% off.

Home Depot Black Friday is a monthlong savings event that reserves in-store doorbuster deals for the final weekend.
While Home Depot typically runs an early Black Friday event that lasts for nearly the whole month of November, some of the very best in-store deals — including their $1.98 poinsettias — are saved for the main event, starting around Black Friday itself (and while supplies last).
All sorts of products get price drops during The Home Depot Black Friday Sale, but we typically see the biggest savings on holiday decorations and artificial trees (up to 67% off), power tool sets (up to 56% off), and smart home devices (up to 50% off), just to name a few.
The first Home Depot Black Friday deals started on Nov. 7, 2024.
Home Depot runs Black Friday deals for pretty much the whole month of November, and the first set of early Black Friday deals going live Thursday, Nov. 7, as confirmed on HomeDepot.com.
But the main event will take place from Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) until Wednesday, Dec. 4.
While Home Depot hasn’t officially announced the date for their main Black Friday sale, based on what they've done in recent years, we here at KCL predict that the main event will take place right after the Early Black Friday deals end which would be from Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) until Wednesday, Dec. 4. Some deals may end on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Since Home Depot stores aren’t open on Thanksgiving, the first day of the main sale is always online only. After that, Black Friday deals will be available in stores and online, with select deals only available while supplies last.
Expect the official Home Depot Black Friday ad to drop on Nov. 27, 2024.
You typically won’t see the main Home Depot Black Friday ad get released until the day before the sale starts, which is usually on Thanksgiving Day. In 2024, Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 28. So you can expect the Black Friday ad to drop on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. Home Depot has stuck to this schedule for the last two years.
As for the early Black Friday deals, you'll likely see that ad drop on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The biggest savings are on artificial Christmas trees, holiday inflatables, tools, and smart home devices.
Deals on Christmas decor, tools, and smart home devices tend to be the best at Home Depot when you look at the total percentage saved. In 2023, these deals saved you up to 60%, with some deals available in stores only and other deals marked as "Special Buys."
Other top deals we’ve seen during the monthlong sale include $99 tool kits (around 50% off), a $99 Hampton Bay Patio Heater (38% off), and $10 screwdriver sets. You can also expect to save up to 40% on appliances from LG and up to 50% on smart home devices from Google Nest and Honeywell.
Shop appliances early during their Black Friday sale to save up to 40% — then check for a rebate to get money back.
Home Depot’s Black Friday prices start early in the month of November and run through Cyber Monday, so there’s no need to wait until later sales to save money. Get ’em while supplies last.
If you do buy appliances during Home Depot Black Friday, be sure to enter your zip code on their website to check for a Home Depot rebate that could get you even more money back.
A handful of deals (like the $1.98 poinsettias) are only available in stores starting on Black Friday.
While you can totally start shopping the main Home Depot Black Friday deals online starting at 12:01 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, the in-store deals don’t kick off until Black Friday itself, when stores open at 6 a.m. local time.
And shopping in store on Black Friday is the only way to score hot doorbuster deals like their $1.98 poinsettias and $9.88 fresh-cut holiday wreaths, which tend to sell out quickly every year.
We also tend to see in-store-only deals on artificial Christmas trees, holiday inflatables, and select tool sets too.
Here's the deal on Home Depot policies on Black Friday:
Price Matching: Home Depot won’t price match during Black Friday sales (or any other seasonal sales, for that matter), as we explain in our Home Depot price match guide.
Rain Checks: Home Depot never offers rain checks, and they explicitly state "while supplies last" on many of their Black Friday deals.
Shipping: Home Depot 2-day shipping is free on orders over $45, and store pickup is always free on eligible items.
Returns: Home Depot sticks to their usual 90-day return policy during Black Friday, but keep in mind that the return window shortens for things like furniture, gas-powered equipment, and appliances. And certain items are always non-returnable, like gift cards and a few other things listed in our Home Depot return policy guide.

Get up to 10% cash back at Home Depot when you shop with Ibotta.
If you’re planning on making some big online purchases during Home Depot Black Friday, definitely take advantage of cash-back offers from rebate apps like Ibotta. For Black Friday, cash back on HomeDepot.com is as high as 10% if you shop through Ibotta.
If you’re unfamiliar with Ibotta, it’s easy to use. You’ll have to create an account, but from there you simply search “Home Depot” on Ibotta’s homepage. Then click on the Home Depot link, and anything you buy will earn you cash back.
Even when the cash-back percentage on Ibotta dips lower — I’ve seen it hover around 4% — it’ll at least cover your sales tax for a major purchase. But 10% is big for Black Friday.
The Home Depot Cyber Monday Sale overlaps with many of their Black Friday deals.
Many of the same deals on Christmas decor, tool sets, and appliances from Home Depot Black Friday carry over to their Cyber Monday sale too, and the two sales run simultaneously. But it's not necessarily worth waiting for any special deals during Home Depot Cyber Monday, unless you're hunting for a particular brand or model that didn't go on sale for Black Friday.
They do usually drop a "Special Buy of the Day" deal on Cyber Monday, like up to 50% off select power tools. But the main Black Friday sale is where the best deals really are.
