I’ve been an Anthropologie shopper for (gulp) decades. And while I first balked at some of their prices (steep), I eventually learned how to navigate the store like a pro. For starters, the Anthropologie sale section is a no-brainer place to start. And they add “Fresh Cuts,” as they like to call new sale additions, pretty often. On top of that, the Anthro website and app make filtering super easy, so you can find the best buys pretty quickly.
However, there is a caveat to an Anthropologie sale during those sweet times of year when they offer an additional 40% off sale merch. It’s final sale. That means no returns or exchanges. If you’re mostly an app or online shopper like me, that can feel a little daunting. But I’ll get into ways you can take the pressure off those purchases that end up not working (like re-selling the item on Poshmark) below.

To best shop the Anthropologie sale, become an Anthro Perks member.
Hands down the best way to shop Anthropologie is to become a member of Anthro Perks, their loyalty program. Create a wishlist through your Anthropologie account to easily monitor when your favorites go on sale.
Now this might seem counterintuitive, browsing through full-price merch that feels a little too spendy right now. However, my tactic is to “window shop” online or in the Anthro app, adding new items to my wishlist so that I can easily track when they go on sale. I will say, using the app for this feels easiest to me. When I’m killing time during the day I’ll just scroll through to see what’s new. When something catches my eye, I add it to my wish list. Then, when I get a notification that new items have been added to sale, I’ll scan that wishlist quickly to see if something I have my eye on is marked down.
Use the filter option to bring top-rated sale items to the top of your list.
There are often thousands of items in the Anthropologie sale section. Now some people like the thrill of the hunt, but others do not. If you’re among the latter, filtering the store’s sale section by “Top Rated” is a must. This way the best-reviewed merchandise is what you’ll see first. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve perused that entire sale section online, only to click on items that look cute in the photo, but real-life shoppers found fault with. So save yourself some time and use that filter!
And back to that caveat I mentioned at the beginning about Anthropologie sale items being marked final sale when there’s an additional percentage off promo happening. Buying only final sale items that are top rated greatly increases the chance you’ll like the item when it arrives at your doorstep. At least that’s been my personal experience.
If you can, wait for those extra 40% off sale promos to get the deepest discounts.
Sometimes there are items you’re so in love with that you want to hop on it even at just 20% off for fear it will sell out in your size. I get it. However, if you can hold out for the extra 40% off promotions to run, the deals are so much better. For example, there’s an Oopscool Off-The-Shoulder Printed Dress I have on my wishlist. Its regular price is $328 (no, thanks), but the sale price is $179.95. That’s already a 45% discount. However, if there’s an extra 40% off sale promotion going on, then that same dress becomes $107.97. That ends up being 67% off.
You can almost guarantee an extra 40% off sale promo to run around a holiday: Black Friday, Christmas, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, etc. And sometimes Anthro throws this promotion out there seemingly just for funzies. That’s another benefit of being an Anthro Perks member — they’ll alert you to when they are happening and often offer early access to the promo.
From my observations, new Anthropologie sale items typically get added after a 40% off sale promo ends.
Here’s something to look out for: new sale items. If you can get to the new sale stuff first online or in the Anthro app, you typically have a lot to choose from. I find that they often add a slew of new items to the sale section right after an extra 40% off promotion ends. Probably because that additional discount drives people to buy and leaves the sale section feeling a little bleak. So be sure to check the Anthropologie sale section a day or two after an additional 40% off sale ends to get the best selection.
Look out for Anthro Home sale events separate from the regular Anthropologie sale section.
Maybe you aren’t so ay yai yai about Anthropologie clothes, but love their housewares and furniture. There are deals for you, too! Often they’ll do special sale events for Anthro Home, which includes everything from bedding to towels to candles and the aforementioned furniture. Over Memorial Day Weekend they held this kind of promotion in addition to the extra 40% off sale deal. Items like the forever trending Gleaming Primrose Mirror were marked down by as much as 40%.
Now, about what to do with final sale purchases you regret.
My fellow shoppers, this is not an ideal situation. But it happens sometimes. My best suggestion when you have a finale sale regret on your hands is to put it on Poshmark. You may not be able to recoup all of your money, but if it was a great deal when you bought it, you should be able to come close. Poshmark is free to join and often even has special virtual “events” for specific store merchandise, like Anthropologie. Again, it’s not the perfect answer, but it is something. Make sure to include that the item was never worn (assuming it hasn’t been) and that it’s new with tags (if it indeed is) to get the best price for it.
