But if you’re wondering where to buy Amazon gift cards other than online, you should know that you actually can’t buy them at certain stores. It’s true, and I learned this the hard way. But don’t worry, I have a full list below of the stores that carry them.

For the holiday season, Amazon is offering some extra promotional credits with qualifying gift card purchases. Many different Amazon gift cards are eligible for this promotion as well as a few gift cards to other popular stores like Starbucks and Apple. We’re not sure how long this deal will last so act soon if you were in the market for an Amazon gift card anyway.
How do I buy an Amazon gift card online?
The quickest way to purchase an Amazon gift card is directly from Amazon.com. Choose between eGift cards, a physical gift card Amazon will ship to you, or a print-at-home Amazon gift card. With the eGift card, you’ll choose the greeting and the amount, then enter the recipient’s email address or phone number, and off it goes. You can choose from set increments of $25 or $50, or you can manually enter the custom amount you’d like. The print-at-home option works the same way, but you’d have to print and send the gift card yourself.
As for physical gift cards, you can also order these on Amazon and ship them to your recipient. The nice thing about the physical cards is that they come presented in a decorative gift box. The minimum amount starts at $15, and the max amount you can send is $2,000, though I don’t think most people even go near this limit.
Which stores sell Amazon gift cards?
Many drugstores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and department stores throughout the U.S. sell Amazon gift cards. Expect to find them in denominations of $15, $25, $50, and $100 individually, or there’s a general card that allows you to load any amount between $25 and $500.
Here’s a list of some of the most well-known retailers where you can buy Amazon cards, although there are so many more. Find the gift card stall (usually located at the front of the store near the registers) and look for the Amazon gift card with the classic yellow arrow logo.

Does Walmart or Target sell Amazon gift cards?
No. Glaringly missing from this list of where to buy Amazon gift cards are two of the retailer’s biggest competitors, Target and Walmart. However, it makes sense that you can’t buy Amazon gift cards at these stores. Why would they route business to their main competitor?
Amazon repays the favor, too. You can’t buy Target or Walmart gift cards on Amazon. In fact, you can only buy Walmart gift cards from Walmart or Sam’s Club. Target gift cards, like Amazon gift cards, are sold at other retailers besides Target (Kroger, CVS, etc.), but not on Amazon.
Can I buy Amazon gift cards at Costco or Sam’s Club?
Nope. Rinse and repeat the answer above. Costco doesn’t sell Amazon gift cards, and neither does Sam’s Club, as it’s owned by Walmart.
Where can I buy discounted Amazon gift cards?
If you’re familiar with discounted gift cards, you already know how it works. But if not, here’s a quick and dirty explainer: people sell unwanted gift cards to a third-party merchant (Raise, Gift Card Granny, Card Bear, etc.). These go-betweens turn around and sell the gift cards at a lower price than their face value. So for example, you might find a $50 gift card on sale for $47.50. If so, this would be 5% savings for you when you go to spend that gift card.
Amazon discounted gift cards do exist, although they’re rare. You can expect to save up to 1% on them. It’s not a huge discount, but it’s better than paying the full price.
Or skip buying them altogether and earn free Amazon gift cards instead.
There are two reliable ways to earn free Amazon gift cards. First, it’s by redeeming Ibotta offers and cashing out in the form of Amazon gift cards instead of cash. Ibotta is a rebate app that gives you rewards for uploading a picture of your receipt showing you bought certain eligible items.
Second, use Amazon Trade-In for your old electronic devices. Have an old Echo Dot or Kindle lying around? Trade it in for its current value in the form of an Amazon gift card. Here are a few of the values we’ve seen recently:
