Need to make a Walmart return? Don’t move off that couch! Walmart has made it easier than ever to return your online orders — even groceries! — by letting you schedule a Walmart free return pickup right from your house. I say it’s high time somebody figured out how to make returning online orders as easy as ordering them!

Now, I need to tell you that this service is only offered to Walmart Plus members right now. And depending on your location, not ALL members may see the option in their account yet.

Walmart first started rolling out this service to select Walmart Plus members back in September 2022. So if you’re one of the lucky ones who has this perk, let’s go over exactly how it works and what you should know.

1. Walmart will only pick up your Walmart.com returns from home.

To be eligible for Walmart free return pickup, the items you’re returning have to be from Walmart.com (aka a Walmart warehouse), not items from a third-party vendor on Walmart.com.

The item listing will show “Sold and shipped by Walmart” if it’s coming from the Walmart warehouse and not a third-party seller.

2. You’ll start the returns process from the Walmart app or Walmart.com.

In the Walmart app (iOS / Android) or online, just go to your purchase history and select “Start a Return.”

Choose which item(s) you need to return and follow the prompts. For your return method, select “Return from home” to use the Walmart free return pickup feature (if it’s available). Remember, only Walmart Plus members have access to this feature.

3. Choose a return pickup date and time.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to be present when your Walmart delivery driver arrives to pick up your return.

4. No need to package your item up or apply a label — Walmart will handle all of that.

When your Walmart delivery driver arrives at the designated time, just meet them at the door, have them scan the QR code in your app, and hand over your item. You don’t even need to provide a box or a label.

You’ll get your money back to your original payment method within 24 hours.

5. Can’t be home for the pickup? Use the QR code and drop it off at your nearest FedEx instead.

If you won’t be able to meet their delivery driver at your doorstep (like they require), just select “Drop off at FedEx” as the return method in your app or online.

You’ll have the employee at your nearest FedEx scan your QR code, and they’ll take care of the rest — all for free!
