What does the Spotify student discount include?
The Spotify Premium Student Discount includes a Premium subscription for up to four years. You’ll need to reapply every year in order to verify eligibility.
For $5.99 a month, you’ll get Premium Spotify, a Hulu subscription, and a Showtime subscription.
Typically, Spotify is $10.99 per month. Hulu is $6.99 a month, and Showtime is $10.99 a month. So with the discount, your savings will be up to $22.98 per month.

How to get the Spotify student discount:
If you’re 18 or older and attending a Title IV college or university, you qualify for the Spotify student discount.
Spotify uses SheerID to verify your student status, so if you already have a student discount through Amazon Prime, you’re all set. It’s the same automatic process. If not, you can fill out the SheerID verification form.

What to do if your automatic verification fails:
If your attempt to verify your student status through SheerID fails, don’t fret. You can submit documentation manually to prove your student status. Unfortunately, just a student .edu email address doesn’t work. Here are a few items you can select as documentation:
- Current student ID
- Official enrollment letter
- Current class schedule
- Registration receipt
- Current transcript
How to renew your discount:
Every year, about four weeks prior to when your subscription expires, you’ll receive an email prompting you to renew your discount. If you miss the window to renew, you’ll automatically be renewed at the full $10.99 per month price.
Don’t worry; if this happens, you can still renew at the student discount pricing. Just go to your Spotify account page and verify through SheerID. The following month should bill at the $5.99 student pricing.
Do graduate students get the Spotify discount?
Yes. And no. The main thing to remember is the Spotify student discount only applies for four years. As long as you qualify (Title IV school, over 18 years old), you can get the student discount, undergrad or grad school doesn’t matter. Once the four years is over, you’ll be billed at the $10.99 price and lose access to Hulu and Showtime.
Can I get a Spotify student discount without being a student?
No. There’s truly no way to do this as Spotify uses SheerID to verify your student status, and they require you to renew once a year.
