McDonald’s and Loungefly have teamed up to create a Halloween-themed crossbody bag that sold out in mid-October. The $70 bag came in two glow-in-the-dark colors, orange for McPunk’n (measures 7.5″ W x 7.4″ H x 7.5″ D).

What is Loungefly, and why are their backpacks so expensive?
Loungefly is an accessories brand that makes officially licensed products for fandoms like Sanrio, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Lisa Frank, NBA Teams, DC Comics, and basically everything Disney. Self-proclaimed geeks can flaunt their interests with mini backpacks, wallets, unique purses, and some clothing items.
Their angle is to make accessories that also function as collectibles, which is part of why they can be expensive. Some bags, like the Loungefly Disney Dumbo Bath Figural Mini Backpack, are only made in small batches in specific months. These are considered rare, and you’ll find them reselling for as much as $400.
Are Loungefly backpacks worth it?
Honestly, if you’re just looking for a cute bag, there are cheaper options. Loungefly backpacks often range from $50 – $125, despite being made of fake leather or polyurethane.
But if you’re in the market for a functional bag from your favorite piece of pop culture or if you’re a big collector, Loungefly could be for you.

We often find deals on Loungefly backpacks at Blue Culture Tees. They regularly have 50% off sale prices and also offer the entire pre-order catalog from Loungefly each month. Plus, you’ll find exclusive products that you can only find at Blue Culture Tees. Their clearance section even has bags that are no longer sold at other retailers. Shipping is free at $99.
Entertainment Earth
You’ll find Loungefly wallets, bags, and accessories at Entertainment Earth. They offer pre-orders at the same prices we see at other sites. But they also have sales on Loungefly up to 55% off. Shipping promos are frequent and we’ve seen shipping thresholds as low as $39 but sometimes as high as $79.
Hot Topic
Hot Topic tends to sell at significantly below the list price. Where the Loungefly site offers backpacks at a median price of around $85 or $90, Hot Topic hovers around $54.90. And that’s without accounting for sales that can bring the price down to as low as $32. The trade-off? Hot Topic offers older styles and collections that aren’t even listed on the Loungefly site anymore. If you’re not pressed about getting the newest products right then and there, consider perusing Hot Topic.
BoxLunch
BoxLunch typically sells items a bit below the list price. The median price for a Loungefly backpack there is about $69, not accounting for sales. With a good sale, you can expect to get between 30% – 40% off. Currently, the least expensive bag we’re seeing is $34. So why opt to shop at BoxLunch over other retailers? Many styles are BoxLunch exclusives, perfect for the superfan.
Amazon
Amazon is kind of a grab bag when it comes to, well, everything. Loungefly bags are no different. You can find Loungefly backpacks and accessories on Amazon for as low as $34.99, which is basically unheard of. However, the inverse is also true with some special-edition bags being resold for as much as $430. With such a huge range, it’s kind of hard to find a median price for comparison. It’s also worth noting there is a possibility that you could buy a fake from Amazon by mistake since the brand doesn’t have an official storefront.
Target
While Target sells Loungefly backpacks, there are only three items listed on their site currently. All are available for about list price.
Walmart
Walmart has a large selection of bags, many of which I didn’t see at other retailers. However, the most expensive is a whopping $239.99, with a lot of the other bags going for more than the list price too.
