Son of a nutcracker — Krispy Kreme has officially released their holiday-themed doughnuts, and they’re all inspired by the classic holiday film, “Elf.”

The doughnuts, which celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Will Ferrell movie’s release, hit Krispy Kreme locations on Black Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Although they’re kinda spendy — $2.59 apiece or $19.69 for the assorted dozen — don’t be a cotton-headed ninnymuggins; we’ll show you how to save money on these limited-edition treats.

What are the Krispy Kreme holiday “Elf” doughnuts?

Krispy Kreme has released four Elf-inspired doughnuts for the holiday season, which cost $2.59 apiece:

1. Buddy Snow Globe Doughnut: This doughnut starts with an Original Glazed® base and is coated in light blue icing with white sugar crystals. It's topped with a chocolate "Elf" piece, giving it a snowy appearance.

2. Buddy Makes Breakfast Doughnut: This doughnut begins with an Original Glazed® base and is generously topped with cake batter “spaghetti” butter creme, colorful milk chocolate candies, sprinkles, and a drizzle of maple syrup (one of the four main food groups, according to Buddy).

3. Christmas Lights Doughnut: Starting with an Original Glazed® base, this doughnut is dipped in rich chocolate icing, drizzled with vibrant green icing, and decorated with rainbow sprinkles and a chocolate "Elf" piece for a festive look.

4. Santa Belly Doughnut: Inspired by Santa's suit, this doughnut is filled with Cookies & Kreme™ filling, dipped in red icing, and decorated with a candy Santa belt and belt buckle.

The holiday doughnuts are cheaper by the dozen — 34% cheaper.

You can have the Elf doughnuts delivered to your door through Uber Eats and Grubhub, but that makes an already spendy treat purchase even spendier.

The Uber Eats and Grubhub price for an Elf Specialty Dozen is $29.69, which is 49% higher than the in-store price of $19.69. And that doesn’t even include delivery fees, service fees, or tips. You can’t buy individual doughnuts via these delivery services.

They're not quite as festive, but Dunkin’ has holiday donuts for half the price.

Krispy Kreme has Dunkin’ beat when it comes to hype-worthy holiday donuts, while Dunkin' Donuts has a much simpler approach to holiday donuts. Although Dunkin’ just has simple holiday-sprinkled white, chocolate, or strawberry donuts, they're nearly half the cost of each Krispy Kreme donut:

  • 1 dozen holiday sprinkle donuts at Dunkin’: $12.99 — 33% cheaper than a dozen of the Elf Krispy Kreme doughnuts

  • 1 holiday sprinkle donut at Dunkin’: $1.39 — 46% cheaper than a single Elf Krispy Kreme doughnut
