KitchenAid has basically denied the allegations by sharing that all mixer accessories and attachments go through strict testing processes and that each part is “safe for any family’s cooking needs.”
This is definitely a little concerning for KitchenAid owners, so we did a little digging into the best KitchenAid mixer attachments that don’t contain lead. Fortunately, these exist! Key tip: look for stainless steel attachments (versus cast aluminum). According to Rubin, the voice behind the website Lead Safe Mama, most grades of stainless steel are considered nontoxic and designated safe for food use.

How to Get a Lead-Free KitchenAid Mixer Attachment at No Charge
Let me preface this by saying that this might not always work. However, this has been proven to be successful with a few customers, as stated in comments on our posts.
You can either email CountertopCollectionsUSA@KitchenAid.com or call their customer service line (1-800-541-6390). Be prepared with details specifying when you purchased or received your mixer. And be prepared to wait. We’ve received reports that customers waited for at least over an hour.
In your conversation, make sure to request lead-free replacements, and be adamant. The customer service representative might tell you a prepared statement stating that KitchenAid products undergo tests and are approved by the FDA. They may even offer a discount if you push further, but successful customers urge that you don’t take no for an answer to get your free replacement.

Note that this stainless steel dough hook ($54.58, Amazon) was designed for bigger commercial KitchenAid mixers. Nonetheless, it’s an official KitchenAid product and comes highly rated.
4. Stainless Steel Flat Beater for KitchenAid
Though not an official KitchenAid product, this Amazon alternative ($39.99, Amazon) for a flat head attachment is fully made of stainless steel and accommodates 4.5- and 5-quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixers. It’s still a new release, but reviewers rave about the sturdy and strong quality.
5. KitchenAid Stand Mixer Stainless Steel Mixing Attachments, Set of 3
While this set ($99.95, Crate & Barrel) takes a longer lead time for shipping, it’s the only mixer attachment set officially sold by KitchenAid. The estimated wait time is about two months. We think this may be due to the potential recall. You’d pay about $33 per piece with this set since you’re paying for the official brand name. Included are a stainless steel dough hook, flat beater, and wire whip. This set fits in 4.5- and 5-quart Tilt-Head KitchenAid stand mixers.
