JCPenney Black Friday in July is a once-a-year, week-long event with deals on bedding, bath, and apparel.

Although lots of retailers have Black Friday in July events, they’re usually built to directly compete with (or capitalize on) Amazon Prime Day online shopping. Not JCP. Their sale has sometimes occurred a whole week after Prime Day. In 2024, it did overlap with Prime Day, but Amazon was the one that switched up its timing to be a week later.

The JCPenney Black Friday in July sale features discounts throughout the store, with special emphasis on back-to-school items like lunch bags and uniform polos. Deals are available both online and in store.

JCPenney hasn't yet announced when its next Black Friday in July event will take place. But based on what they've done in recent years, KCL predicts a kickoff date of July 14, 2025.

How do we make our prediction?

In recent years, JCPenney has held their Black Friday in July sale a week after the Amazon Prime Day sale. In 2024, the sale ran the same week as Prime Day. Before 2022, it was a Thursday sale that jumped around July. But they’ve established a new pattern of the sale beginning on the third Monday in July. We expect that again in 2025, which means it would start on Monday, July 14.
