When Peacock TV launched in April 2020, it offered something nobody else had — a completely free tier that anyone could get, no hidden fees or credit card necessary.

But these days, is Peacock free? Is there a Peacock free trial? What do you get with a Peacock premium account? Is Peacock premium worth it?

Is Peacock free? Sort of. While there used to be a free tier of the streaming service, Peacock did away with that in 2023. They also eliminated the free 7-day trial for the Premium accounts. (And don’t believe what you read elsewhere; we checked with Peacock ourselves.)

That said, anyone who subscribes to grocery delivery membership Instacart+ gets free Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 per month for everyone else.

You can also pay for a Peacock Premium Plus subscription for $9.99, which will get you everything in the Peacock Premium tier with no ads.

NOTE: Peacock will only give you five minutes of ads per hour you watch. Wayyy better than broadcast TV.

3. What original programming does Peacock Premium have?

If you’re looking to watch any of the Peacock Original shows, you’ll have to get a Peacock Premium account. Many of the first episodes are available for free, but if you’re looking to watch every episode, you’ll need a Peacock Premium account.

If you pay for a yearly subscription, you’ll save 16.5% with Peacock Premium and 16.6% for Peacock Premium Plus.

11. How do I cancel my Peacock TV account?

If you pay for your Peacock TV account yearly, you can cancel anytime, but you won’t get a refund for the rest of the year — and you’ll still have access to Peacock for the rest of the year. If you have a monthly subscription, you’ll just need to cancel your plan before your next payment due date. And, you’ll have access to Peacock until the billing cycle ends.

To cancel your Peacock streaming service, follow these steps:

1. Click on the main account holder’s avatar located in the upper right corner of the screen.

2. Look for the link labeled “account” and click on it.

3. On the account page, navigate to the “your plan” section.

4. Click on the option that says “change or cancel plan.”

5. Scroll down on the page until you find the option to “cancel plan.”

6. Click on “cancel plan” to proceed with the cancellation process.

12. Can I download shows with Peacock TV?

If you want to download shows for offline viewing, you’ll need to have the $9.99/month Peacock Premium Plus account. Not every show or movie is available for download, so the shows and movies that you can download are labeled on the “Browse” menu.
