Even though Costco raising membership fees by about 8% was a huge story this year, we've got good news about specific Costco items going down in price.

As of December 2024, Costco has lowered the prices on three additional Kirkland Signature items, with a couple of pantry goods and wine now added to our ongoing list of price drops.

"Our goal is always to be the first to lower prices where we see the opportunities to do so," said Costco CFO Gary Millerchip on a company earnings call that took place on Dec. 12, 2024.

So which grocery items have gotten cheaper at Costco this year, and by how much? I've been keeping track of every recent Costco price drop and have updated the full list below so you know what prices to expect in the store. I also recommend shopping the best deals at Costco this month and checking out the latest Costco Coupon Book.

Recent Costco Price Drops (October - December 2024)

The following prices may vary, depending on your location. Also, remember that Costco's online prices are typically higher than in-store prices since shipping and handling is factored into the cost.

1. Organic Chicken Stock: 10% cheaper

costco-kirkland-signature-organic-chicken-stock

On Costco's 2025 Q1 earning call, the execs mentioned that Kirkland Signature Chicken Stock was $1 cheaper during the last quarter of 2024. You'll now pay as low as $8.99 per 192-ounce package if you shop in store. That's a price drop of 10%.

It's worth noting that the package contains six 32-ounce resealable cartons, so you don't have to worry about it being one giant container that'll spoil. If you shop on Costco.com, you'll pay $11.99 (plus a $3 delivery fee).

New in-store price: $8.99

2. Sauvignon Blanc: 7% cheaper

costco-kirkland-signature-ti-point-sauv-blanc-new-zealand-price

As confirmed on the most recent earnings call, Kirkland Signature Sauvignon Blanc was $0.50 cheaper over the last few months of 2024. It's now priced at $6.99 in store as of December 2024, which is 7% cheaper than its previous price.

And in case you're curious about who makes Kirkland products, this Kirkland item is made by Ti Point Wines, with grapes sourced from Marlborough, New Zealand.

Previous price: $7.49

New in-store price: $6.99

KCL TIP: You can't shop Costco wine online, but I do see it available for $9.09 per bottle (plus delivery and service fees) through Instacart delivery.

3. Organic Peanut Butter: 4% cheaper

costco-kirkland-signature-organic-peanut-butter

In mid-December, Costco executives claimed that they lowered the in-store price on Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter from $11.49 down to $9.99. But after checking a few stores near me on Dec. 14, I could only find the 2-pack priced as low as $10.99. Still, that's a 4% price drop.

Fun fact: Costco's organic peanut butter is made with the same type of peanuts (Valencia) that are in Trader's Joe's organic peanut butter, but Costco's version is about $0.08 cheaper per ounce.

4. Macadamia Nuts: 26% cheaper

costco-kirkland-macadamia-nuts-september-2024

Macadamia nuts are typically a spendy snack, but Costco's CFO called them out on the Q4 earnings call as a recent Costco price drop, with the price of Kirkland Signature Macadamia Nuts going down by 26% as of September 2024. You'll now pay as low as $13.99 per 24-ounce bag if you shop in store — though I've found them as low as $12.69 as of December 2024.

5. Baguette 2-Pack: 17% cheaper

costco-kirkland-baguettes-september-2024

You'll now pay 17% less for the 2-pack of baguettes from the Costco Bakery, with $1 knocked off the in-store price as of September 2024.

This price drop is partly because inflation is going down on things like flour and sugar, which is "causing the bakery category as a whole to be deflationary," Costco execs explained. This is good news if you're a fan of Costco's Bakery finds.

New in-store price: $4.99

6. Boneless Chicken Tenderloins: 13% cheaper

costco-kirkland-chicken-tenderloins-september-2024

Costco's frozen chicken tenderloins have gotten 13% cheaper as of September 2024, which now makes them an even better deal. And they're antibiotic-free too.

You'll now pay $19.49 for the 6-pound bag, which comes out to just $3.25 per pound — cheaper than frozen chicken tenderloins at Walmart.

Previous price: $22.49

New in-store price: $19.49

KCL TIP: If you've read our Costco price hacks, you know that Costco has one of the lowest markups in the industry. Costco's average markup is around 14% - 15%, while competitor stores often inflate their prices by anywhere from 25% to 100%.

7. Spanish Olive Oil: 10% cheaper

costco-price-drops-kirkland-spanish-olive-oil-kcl-2

On the September company earnings call, Costco execs shared that the 3-liter jugs of Kirkland Signature Spanish Olive Oil had a recent price drop — down by $4 per jug.

But in my experience, you may find it for $2 less than that. For example, my local Costco (in Central Florida) has an even lower in-store price as of September 2024 — just $32.99 per 3-liter jug.

New in-store price: $34.99

8. Aluminum Foil: 6% cheaper

costco-kirkland-aluminum-foil-september-2024

Their Kirkland Reynolds Aluminum Foil is now 6% cheaper as of September 2024, with a price drop of $2 per pack, down to just $29.99. Considering that the box contains 1,000 square feet of foil, that means you're paying $0.03 per square foot — a price per square foot that stores like Walmart just can't beat.

9. Laundry Detergent Pacs: 5% cheaper

costco-kirkland-laundry-detergent-pacs-september-2024

Kirkland's Laundry Detergent Pacs have seen a 5% price drop since getting repackaged from a plastic tub to a resealable pouch earlier this year. The 152-count bag now costs $18.99, which makes each detergent pac about half a cent cheaper.

Costco also dropped the price on their 24-packs of San Pellegrino mineral water by 12% in early 2024, which means you're paying about $0.08 less per can ($2 less per pack).

Though, as of December 2024, I've found other flavors of San Pellegrino 24-packs priced as low as $9.97 at my store in Central Florida.

13. Reading Glasses: 11% cheaper

New in-store price: $16.99

14. Kirkland Signature Batteries: 11% cheaper

All of the 48-packs of Kirkland Signature batteries, including AA and AAA sizes, have dropped in price by at least $2 per pack. You're saving 11% on the same product and paying about $0.04 less per battery.

As of December 2024, I'm even finding them priced as low as $15.99 at my Costco in Central Florida.

15. Farm-Raised Raw Shrimp: 8% cheaper

costco-kirkland-shrimp-september-2024

This price drop was announced during the Q3 2024 earnings call in May and delivered savings of $1 per package of farm-raised raw shrimp in the frozen section.

And as of December 2024, I'm finding in-store prices as low as $11.65 in Central Florida.

Costco Prices Here to Stay

Rotisserie Chicken: $4.99

Costco executives have called their $4.99 rotisserie chicken a “wow” item. The shockingly low price of Costco’s 3-pound chicken is a great example of a loss leader, a tactic stores use to get shoppers in the door.

So don’t worry about the price for this fan-favorite going up anytime soon. Their leadership team has confirmed that the rotisserie chicken is “an investment in low prices to drive membership” (and sales) in a big way, and the price is staying put.

Hot Dog Combo: $1.50

Another one of the most beloved Costco deals is here to stay: the $1.50 Hot Dog Combo at Costco’s food court. Costco has kept this hot dog combo at $1.50 for over 30 years, and execs have confirmed that it's here to stay.

"The fact that we’ve been able to stave off inflation on things like the hot dog price staying $1.50 and the rotisserie chicken at $4.99 ... I think there’s been a recognition that….we’ve stayed true to our principles of really trying to help the member and deliver the value," said Costco CFO Gary Millerchip.
