Which do you want first — the good news or the bad news? Okay, let’s do bad news first: a Best Buy teacher discount does not exist. While this might elicit some major boos from our tireless educators, don’t count the big-box retailer out just yet.
Because yes, there is good news: Best Buy price matches a bunch of retailers. So if you want to claim a teacher discount from another store while shopping at Best Buy, it’s sometimes possible. We’ll get into when and how in just a minute. But boy, do we love a store hack.
First, make sure you download The Krazy Coupon Lady app to stay on top of the best teacher discounts and everyday savings at all your favorite stores.
Does Best Buy give teacher discounts?
No, Best Buy doesn’t issue any discounts direct to teachers.
If you’re a school administrator, you can access the Best Buy Education program to get a dedicated account manager. This manager will help you get educator pricing and tech solutions for your district.
However, as an individual teacher there is no discount. That doesn’t mean you’re totally SOL, though. Because Best Buy does price match other retailers. If you’re wondering which retailers, that is a totally logical question, but the answer depends on where you live.
Best Buy will price match local retailers. “Local” means the store has a physical presence within a 25-mile radius. The retailer will match prices from that competitor’s website, too.
Can I get the Apple teacher discount at Best Buy?
Best Buy might not offer a teacher discount, but Apple does. It’s not a set percentage off — it’s a custom markdown so it will vary. And it only applies to Macs, iPads, and select monitors. So you’ll still be paying full price for AirPods.
The sheer number of people that qualify for the Apple teacher discount is impressive. You can score the discount if you’re:
- A teacher in K-12 or college classrooms
- Any faculty member in such schools
- Any staff member in such schools
- Any faculty or staff member of any educational facility
- Homeschool teachers
To claim the Apple teacher discount at Best Buy, there must be an Apple store within 25 miles of your location. If there is, just show the manager your teacher discount offer on Apple’s website to claim the price match.
Can I get the Amazon teacher discount at Best Buy?
While Best Buy does price match Amazon, there is no direct-to-teacher Amazon discount. So Best Buy won’t be able to honor it.
Amazon does have a program for school administrators that allows them to extend ordering power to teachers through the school’s account. There are some discounts through this program, especially on bulk orders. But you won’t be able to secure these discounts as an individual — only through your educational institution.
TIP: There may not be an Amazon teacher discount, but there are some pretty great Prime Day deals teachers will like. You can also create an Amazon Wish List for your classroom to get support from classroom parents and the wider community.
Can I get the Target teacher discount at Best Buy?
Once per year, running from sometime in midsummer through the first half of September, Target issues a 15% off coupon to teachers via Target Circle for the Teacher Prep Event.
If there is a Target within 25 miles of your Best Buy location, Best Buy will price match Target. However, coupons are excluded from the price matching deal. Ultimately this means you won’t be able to claim Target’s teacher discount at Best Buy.

Are there other ways teachers can save money at Best Buy?
Of course! While there may not be an explicit teacher discount, Best Buy does offer some programs that can help anyone save money on everyday purchases, regardless of their profession.
Teachers can save with everyone else via the My Best Buy program.
When you join Best Buy’s free loyalty program, My Best Buy, you’ll get free shipping with no minimum spend, plus access to exclusive members-only deals.
If you have the My Best Buy credit card, you’ll also rack up points for every purchase (2.5 points for every $1 you spend). You used to get points without the credit card, but that changed in February 2023.
TIP: Best Buy gift card purchases don’t earn points.
Shop Best Buy Outlet for open-box deals.
Open-box items are usually products that have been returned. But when you purchase them through Best Buy Outlet, the company guarantees they’ll work, and the original warranty still applies. If you’re dissatisfied with your purchase, you can make returns or exchanges.
Best Buy Outlet prices are worth it: you’ll easily find items marked down by up to 60%.
There are only 19 physical locations spread across the U.S. But if you don’t live near one, don’t stress. You can shop Best Buy Outlet online, too.
Use the Best Buy trade-in program to get store credit.
Let’s say you’re buying a new iPad because your old one died. When I traded in my old iPad, I got $120 in store credit. Not a direct discount, but that store credit can definitely help chip away at the cost of your new device.
Here’s where you can get started with Best Buy Trade-In.

Keep tabs on the Best Buy Deal of the Day.
The Best Buy Deal of the Day changes on (you guessed it) a daily basis. Deals on this page frequently get as low as Black Friday pricing.
But it’s pretty much luck of the draw if the item you want goes on sale on any given day. Be careful that checking the page doesn’t inspire purchases you don’t need just because it’s a “deal.” It’s only a deal if you were going to buy it anyways.
