How do you get AARP car rental discounts?
First things first, you’ll need to join AARP.
The standard annual rate is $16 per year, but AARP regularly offers discounts on membership. Right now it’s 25% off, but in the past I’ve seen two years of membership for $20 or five years for $9 per year ($45). If you’re not in a hurry, it might be worth waiting for one of these, but $12 per year isn’t too bad either.
Once you’re a member, you can book your rental car online through Expedia or call the AARP Travel Center to book: 1-800-675-4318.

The best AARP car rental discounts are for Budget and Avis.
Expect to save 30% on base rates for both Budget and Avis car rentals. With car rentals at an average of $80 per day, that’s $24 savings per day.
You can also get 5% off Payless Car Rental; that’s an average of $4 savings every day — better than paying full price.
Sometimes you’ll even get free upgrades and free additional drivers as an AARP member.
Are there AARP car rental discounts for Enterprise?
No. Comparing car rental prices with and without the AARP discount on Expedia, it looks like members don’t get a discount. A midsize SUV through Enterprise here in Boise would be $59 per day, with or without AARP membership.
Get $20 off a ZipCar membership with AARP.
ZipCar is an auto sharing service owned by Avis where you can rent a car for just a few hours if you need one. Mention or enter your AARP membership while signing up for ZipCar and you’ll get $20 off. If you’re brand new to ZipCar, you’ll also get $40 in free driving credit.
Use your AARP car rental discount to get 10% – 20% off a Budget truck rental.
Yep, I’m talking about moving trucks. If you need a truck rental sometime between Sunday and Thursday (non-weekend), you can get 20% off one-way trips. Expect to see just 10% off on Fridays and Saturdays.
You’ll also get access to a Physical Damage Waiver worth $10 per day.
What other benefits do AARP members get?
